Cyberpunk parkour game Ghostrunner has been delayed on Nintendo Switch. The stylish action game was first revealed during Gamescom 2019, and new trailers have been coming out for it ever since. Its vibrant art style and flashy, high-speed combat drew the eye of a lot of critics, and its unconventional take on the platformer genre has made it stand out in the months leading up to its release.

The cyberpunk genre has certainly been prominent recently. Much of that is likely due to the approach of Cyberpunk 2077, an open world RPG from the makers of The Witcher IIICyberpunk 2077 has promised a rich, vibrant, neon-tinged world that players are surely chomping at the bit to dive into and explore. Incidentally, Cyberpunk 2077 was also delayed earlier today, leaving restless fans with a big Cyberpunk hole in their lives that needs filling.

Ghostrunner is here to fill that hole, but not for everyone. The game released today on most platforms, but, as Nintendo Life reports, the Switch is not one of them. Publisher All In! Games delayed the Switch port alone because "the Ghostrunner teams want all players to have the best possible experience with the game." At the time of this writing, the Switch version of Ghostrunner is set to release sometime in November, but a specific release date has yet to be given. The Switch has a lot of fundamental differences when compared to its competitors, so a delay like this is certainly understandable; a similar delay recently affected the Switch port of popular battle royale Apex Legends.

Many fans can take solace in the fact that Ghostrunner is out now for every other system, and critics have been responding to it pretty positively so far. But there are sure to be a lot of fans who are feeling bereft. The Switch is a wildly popular console; it's on track to outsell the Xbox One despite being released three years earlier, and it's been projected to sell better during the holidays than both of the next-gen consoles that are releasing next month. With sales numbers this high, there are probably a lot of gamers out there who want to give Ghostrunner a try but can't realistically invest in it on any console other than the Switch.

As Cyberpunk 2077 fans have been demonstrating, no one likes it when a game gets delayed. Ghostrunner has generated a lot of hype, and fans aren't going to enjoy waiting. But luckily, they don't have to wait too long. Hopefully the developers will use this extra time wisely, and produce a game that everyone can enjoy, on every console.
