Warning: This contains spoilers for Ghosted.

Ghosted marks Chris Evans and Ana de Armas's third movie together, but the Captain America actor brought some of his Marvel Cinematic Universe friends along for the ride and it was a highlight of the movie. Evans plays Cole in Ghosted's cast of characters, and the actor plays against type, as Cole is a needy, average Joe who is totally incapable of defending himself. The movie flips one action movie trope on its head, as de Armas plays the action hero who constantly saves Evans' damsel-in-distress character. The AppleTV+ movie is another glossy, star-studded action flick, a genre in which streaming platforms have totally invested.

Unfortunately, the movie continues a trend of those films being overwhelmingly negatively received, as it sits at a "rotten" 32% on Rotten Tomatoes, and no amount of cameos can save the underwritten narrative and dialogue. However, that doesn't mean the movie didn't try, as the film is full of guest appearances that appear out of nowhere. Whether it's a cameo from an actor who's becoming famous for his cameos, or a subtle Hitchcock-like appearance from the director, it's almost as if cameos took priority over Ghosted's narrative. And the cameos from Marvel actors are by far the most entertaining parts of the movie.

Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie & Ryan Reynolds' Ghosted Cameos Explained

Anthony Mackie, who played Falcon and is now the new Captain America in the MCU, plays a bounty hunter called The Grandson of Sam. Mackie's on-screen partner, Sebastian Stan, who plays the Winter Soldier in the franchise, appears as a competing bounty hunter nicknamed God. They're both part of the same sequence that runs for around five minutes. One bounty hunter after another holds Cole and Sadie captive until they're killed by the following bounty hunter. Tim Blake Nelson, who played the Leader in The Incredible Hulk and will return as the main antagonist in Captain America: New World Order, also features as an arms dealer.

Ghosted features Ryan Reynolds, too, who will be entering the MCU in 2024 with Deadpool 3. The actor plays one of Sadie's many old flames and briefly alludes to becoming a better person after he had his genitals shot off. Outside his own streaming-exclusive action movies, Reynolds has made a habit out of cameoing in films, as he crops up in Hobbs & Shaw and 2022's Bullet Train. Evans and Reynolds are seemingly playing ping pong when it comes to cameoing in each other's movies too, as Evans featured in Free Guy for just a couple of seconds. In that respect, maybe Evans can continue the trend and cameo in Deadpool 3.

Why Ghosted's MCU Cameos Are The Best Part Of The Apple TV+ Movie

Adrien Brody as Leveque getting mad in Apple's Ghosted

Ghosted has been overwhelmingly slammed by critics, and many have mentioned that it feels like a screenplay written by artificial intelligence and that there's no chemistry between Evans and de Armas. The supporting characters do all the heavy lifting in the AppleTV+ movie, and Adrien Brody playing an evil billionaire in Ghosted is the most dedicated performance from any actor in the film. The only thing missing from his perfectly hammy performance is a maniacal laugh. Outside of that, Ghosted is a bland and flavorless action movie. While the small cameo roles might not salvage the film, they're certainly the most entertaining parts and offer a spot of excitement when they pop up on the screen.
