IDW Publishing has announced that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will cross paths with the Ghostbusters yet again. In 2014, to celebrate the 30th anniversaries of both franchises, IDW published a four-issue mini-series that featured the two teams of legendary heroes joining forces to save New York City and the world from a paranormal threat like none other. Since the crossover received favorable reviews from critics and strong word-of-mouth from fans of both ongoing comic book series, IDW is reuniting the Turtles and the Ghostbusters for another inter-dimensional adventure this fall.

In the first crossover, while testing their own Interspatial Teleportation Unit, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello, April O'Neil and Casey Jones accidentally teleport themselves and free Chi-You - a powerful immortal who had been stuck between two worlds for hundreds of years - to the Ghostbusters’ dimension. Wanting to control Earth, no matter which dimension he is in, Chi-You builds an army by enslaving and monstrously transforming humans - with Casey being one of them. After an awkward getting to know each other period, the Turtles and the Ghostbusters (Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, Egon Spengler, and Peter Venkman) work together to defeat Chi-You and to build a new Interspatial Teleportation Unit that can send them home - before time runs out.

Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe) and Tom Waltz (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, editor for Ghostbusters), the dream team that penned the original crossover, are back to write its sequel. They will be joined by Ghostbusters artist Dan Schoening - whose animated art style has come to define the look of the Ghostbusters comics - as well as Turtles’ artists: Pablo Tunica (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe), Tadd Galusha (TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything), Mark Torres (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and C.P. Wilson III (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters).

Like in the first go-around, according to Waltz, “the events in this story directly flow out of and affect the storylines in both ongoing series,” and Burnham teases that we will see some more entertaining one-on-one interactions between members of both teams - Egon and Donatello, Leonardo and Winston, and April and Janine Melnitz paired up in the first one - as well as villains from both dimensions.

“I had such a blast working on the first crossover with Tom, and in the years since, we've talked about what we might do if we ever got a crack at a sequel. When the opportunity came up, we didn't even use a single one of those plans! Instead, we grabbed villains from both universes and mixed them together to form the foundation of a fun story that furthers the ongoing stories of both the Turtles and the Ghostbusters. Even better, we get some more one-on-one scenes, allowing their complementary personalities to shine and we're beyond excited to share!”

Here’s the official synopsis for the latest crossover:

Our story begins when an old adversary traps the Turtles in a ghost dimension, as old adversaries are wont to do. However, all hope is not lost for our Heroes in Half-Shell, as New York City’s resident experts on all things spooky quickly answer the call.
