Sony releases a new Ghostbusters: Afterlife clip seeing Paul Rudd's science teacher Mr. Grooberson accidentally freeing a ghost from a trap. Rudd is part of the film's ensemble cast, starring alongside Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard and Logan Kim, with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts reprising their original roles. The next chapter in the beloved horror comedy franchise hails from co-writer/director Jason Reitman, son of original director and producer Ivan, and co-writer Gil Kenan.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife returns the franchise to the original timeline and picks up 22 years after the events of Ghostbusters II. The film centers on single mother Callie and her two children as they are evicted from their home and forced to move to their late grandfather's decaying farmhouse in a small Oklahoma town, which is being rocked by mysterious earthquakes and events seemingly tied to an old mine once owned by an occultist. The kids discover their grandfather Egon Spengler's history as a Ghostbuster with his equipment at the house and must use them to save the world from a new supernatural threat.

The new Ghostbusters: Afterlife clip is one sure to hit the nostalgic sweet spot for longtime fans of the franchise as well as intrigue those still relatively new to the films. In addition to the ghost trap and its memorable blue electricity effect when active, the video features a recreation of the eerie-yet-rousing tracks from Elmer Bernstein's original Ghostbusters score, closely resembling that of "Library" and "Zuul Part 2." Though it's unknown how much of the original score composer Rob Simonsen utilizes for the new film, the tease of the recreations in the new clip is sure to further build audience anticipation for the film's arrival.

The new Ghostbusters: Afterlife clip is only adding fuel to the fire of viewer excitement for the latest chapter in the horror comedy franchise. Early reviews and reactions for the film have been largely positive thus far, praising the film for properly utilizing its nostalgia while also delivering something new for the franchise. Only time will tell if the wait can live up to audiences expectations when Ghostbusters: Afterlife hits theaters on November 19.
