The Ghostbusters: Afterlife cast introduces new characters and brings back some familiar faces, with both coming together to create a fitting renewal of the beloved Ghostbusters franchise. Directed by Jason Reitman, who steps into his father Ivan Reitman’s shoes to helm the latest franchise installment, Ghostbusters: Afterlife was a reboot and sequel to the original movie which both features a new generation of Ghostbusters while also heavily paying homage to the original movie. This leads to a Ghostbusters: Afterlife cast filled with new faces as well as many crowd-pleasing cameos.

The movie is set in the present day and sees Callie Spengler and her children — Phoebe and Trevor — moving to Summerville, Oklahoma following Egon's death. As they acclimate to the small town, Phoebe, an intrepid and budding scientist, is quickly drawn into the mystery surrounding her grandfather’s farm and what he was preparing to fight against in his final years. Ghostbusters: Afterlife also features original characters from 1984’s Ghostbusters, merging the two timelines to create a new Ghostbusters movie for a new generation of fans.

Actor: Phoebe Spengler is played by McKenna Grace, who got her break in the entertainment industry when she picked up the recurring role of Faith Newman on the soap opera The Young and the Restless at the age of seven. His biggest break after Stranger Things, and Wolfhard's first-ever movie role, was as Richie Tozier in Stephen King's It. Since that time, Wolfhard has also appeared in The Goldfinch as Young Boris Pavlikovsky, The Turning as Miles, and Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio as Candlewick. He returned in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Actor: Callie Spengler is played by Carrie Coon in the Ghostbusters: Afterlife cast. Coon got her start in theater, but she ended up breaking through to television after she picked up a Tony nomination for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Her first major TV role was on the HBO drama series The Leftovers, and she made her movie debut that same year in David Fincher's Gone Girl. Coon received an Emmy nomination for her role as Gloria Burgle in Fargo season 3, and she has also appeared in The Gilded Age, The Sinner, Avengers: Infinity War, and Widows.

Actor: Paul Rudd plays Gary Grooberson, and the actor has been in a plethora of films and TV shows. After starting his career on the TV show Sisters, he picked up two big roles in very different movies — Josh in Clueless and Tommy Doyle in Halloween 6. His career exploded after that, with roles in Romeo + Juliet, Wet Hot American Summer, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Ant-Man, and TV shows like Parks and Recreation and Friends. Rudd returned as Ant-Man in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and appeared in season 3 of Only Murders in the Building.

Character: Gary Grooberson is Phoebe’s summer school teacher and a seismologist who studies Summerville’s earthquakes in relation to the odd phenomena happening in town. After meeting the Spengler kids, Gary forms a charming romance with Callie, and uses his science knowledge to help the kids create the weapons needed to fend off and eventually defeat the ghosts on Egon Spengler's farm.

Logan Kim As Podcast

A Teen Who Runs A Paranormal Podcast

Actor: Logan Kim plays Podcast in the Ghostbusters Afterlife cast. Kim is a relative newcomer whose only credit before starring in Ghostbusters: Afterlife was in the TV miniseries short Home Movie: The Princess Bride. For those unfamiliar, this was a serialized remake of The Princess Bride, directed by Ghostbusters: Afterlife director Jason Reitman, with celebrities remaking scenes while at home in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kim played The Grandson, listening to the story. Kim took on the role of Maggie's son Hershel Rhee in The Walking Dead spinoff series Dead City.

Character: Podcast is Phoebe’s friend and, as his nickname implies, a podcast host. After meeting in school, Podcast joins Phoebe in her paranormal investigations. While young and mostly scared of the paranormal activities he is so obsessed with, he remains a solid member of the young Ghostbusters team, protecting the world from the invading spirits.

Celeste O’Connor As Lucky Domingo

The Local Sheriff's Daughter

Actor: Celeste O’Connor portrays Lucky Domingo. Before taking on this role, they appeared in a series of smaller movies, including Wetlands (2017), Irreplaceable You (2018), and Selah and the Spades (2019). However, their biggest movie role came in 2020 with the horror-comedy Freaky, starring Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton. Since Ghostbusters: Afterlife, they appeared in the drama A Good Person and paranormal romance The In Between, before getting their shot at a comic book movie role, where they played Mattie Franklin/Spider-Woman in the 2024 Sony Spider-Man spinoff movie Madame Web.

Bill Murray as Dr. Peter Venkman - Bill Murray reprises his role from the original Ghostbusters, playing Dr. Peter Venkman, one of the four ghost-busting teammates. Dan Akroyd as Dr. Raymond “Ray” Stantz - Dan Akroyd shows up in a cameo appearance in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, reprising his original role of Dr. Raymond Stantz. Besides the Ghostbusters franchise, Akroyd has been in Saturday Night Live, 50 First Dates, Christmas with the Kranks, and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.

Ernie Hudson as Dr. Winston Zeddemore - Ernie Hudson also reprises his 1984 Ghostbusters role as Dr. Winston Zeddemore. Harold Ramis as Dr. Egon Spengler - Harold Ramis unfortunately passed away in 2014, but archival footage was used so the late actor could reappear briefly in Ghostbusters: Afterlife as a ghost. The late Ramis' film credits consist of Groundhog Day, Knocked Up, and Year One.

Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett - Sigourney Weaver appears briefly in the mid-credits scene of Ghostbusters: Afterlife as Dana Barrett reunites with Peter. The actress is most well-known for Alien, Alien: Resurrection, Avatar, A Monster Calls, Chappie, The Defenders, Wall-E, Heartbreakers, and Galaxy Quest.

Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz - Janine Melnitz returns as the Ghostbusters’ secretary, with Annie Potts appearing in two scenes of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Potts is best known for Pretty in Pink, Toy Story 4, Young Sheldon, The Fosters, Dangerous Minds, and Love & War.
