The Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire cast sees fan-favorite actors like Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, and Ernie Hudson reprising their roles as popular characters from the earlier Ghostbusters movies. When it hit theaters in 2021, Ghostbusters: Afterlife performed surprisingly well at the box office, so Sony was quick to greenlight a sequel. Picking up where Ghostbusters: Afterlife left off, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will explore the continuing adventures of a new generation of Ghostbusters, led by Egon Spengler's grandchildren, Phoebe and Trevor. Like Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the film will also feature the return of some beloved legacy characters.

Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, who previously handled the screenplay for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, co-wrote the story for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Reitman also directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, yet Kenan is taking his turn in the director’s chair for the fifth movie, while the former is attached as a producer. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is the first Ghostbusters film with no involvement from the original movie's director, Ivan Reitman, who died in 2022. But the franchise is in very safe hands with son Jason in control and a cast including great actors such as Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Patton Oswalt.

Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz - Annie Potts reprises her iconic Ghostbusters role as Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Janine was the original Ghostbusters' secretary and the one to inform Callie of Egon's death in the 2021 film. The character returns in the fifth movie, where Janine will finally become a Ghostbuster. Aside from Ghostbusters, Potts is known for her roles in Corvette Summer, Pretty in Pink, Toy Story, Designing Women, Love & War, and Young Sheldon.

Kumail Nanjiani as Nadeem Razmaadi - Comedian Kumail Nanjiani stars as Nadeem Razmaadi in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. His character is a bit of a mystery, so fans will have to watch the movie to know more about Nadeem. Nanjiani is best known for playing Dinesh Chugtai in the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley and fan-favorite Kingo in the MCU movie Eternals. He also co-wrote the Oscar-nominated script and starred as a fictionalized version of himself in The Big Sick.

Patton Oswalt as Dr. Hubert Wartzki - Patton Oswalt appears in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire as Dr. Hubert Wartzki, someone who warns the Ghostbusters about the new threat.
