Fans of Ghost Of Tsushima are trying to organize a special multiplayer event to celebrate the game's first anniversary. When it launched on the PlayStation 4 last July, Sucker Punch's open-world Japanese epic gardened near-universal acclaim, wowing players and critics alike with its stunning graphics, challenging sword and stealth gameplay, and moving story about family, vengeance, and honor as fallen samurai Jin Sakai battled to free his homeland from Mongolian invaders.

In addition to Ghost Of Tsushima’s well-regarded single-player content, Sucker Punch launched a multiplayer co-op mode a month after the main game was released, titled Legends. Legends allows up to four players to team up against waves of enemies or even bosses using one of four unique character classes. In the months since Legends’ late summer launch, Sucker Punch would smooth out the mode's various technical hiccups with update patches, making Legends an ideal place for fans of Ghost Of Tsushima to meet and enjoy the game that took PS4 owners by storm last year.

This is the idea that Reddit user RikuSage shared on the r/Ghostoftsushima subreddit yesterday - an online meeting of Ghost Of Tsushima fans to honor the game’s release one year ago. According to GamesRadar, this event would be titled “Return to Tsushima” and would feature groups of players engaging in Legends mode simultaneously on July 17, the day the game first launched in 2020. RikuSage and other fans got this idea from a similar event for Bloodborne, which would go on to be held every year since that title launched in 2015.

Even one year after it first hit stores, Ghost Of Tsushima continues to resonate with players, having sold over 6.5 million copies as of this writing. Although Sucker Punch is supposedly busy with an as-of-yet unrevealed multiplayer game, talk of a sequel is ever common. Additionally, Sony is currently in the process of developing a live-action Ghost Of Tsushima movie from John Wick director Chad Stahelski as part of an ongoing initiative to bring its most successful games to the big screen.

Meanwhile, RikuSage’s “Return To Tsushima” multiplayer event sounds like a fun way to get fans together in celebration of Ghost Of Tsushima’s first anniversary. Although some time has passed since Legends’ launch and subsequent updates, both the mode and its home game retain a great deal of staying power based on the support RikuSage is already getting in the comments section. If nothing else, fans the world over will get together to enjoy the polished gameplay that made Ghost Of Tsushima an instant classic last year.
