Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut star Daisuke Tsuji recently got a chance to show off his real-life samurai sword skills in an amusing video, and even reenacted the game's climactic duel. Tsuji has made guest appearances in shows like The Blacklist and lent his voice to games like Death Stranding and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 over the past few years. It was his latest turn as samurai warrior Jin Sakai in Sucker Punch's hit open-world action title that has landed him the most attention from gamers.

In addition to providing the English voice of Jin Sakai in Ghost Of Tsushima, Daisuke Tsuji also performed facial motion capture as the lone samurai out to avenge his family and reclaim his homeland from Mongolian invaders. Indeed, Jin’s trademark stern, unflappable expression in the heat of battle is Tsuji’s own in virtual form. However, Tsuji didn’t perform any stunt work while recording as Jin, though he recently picked up a traditional Japanese katana to try his hand at the various sword attacks and fighting stances his character can pull off in Ghost Of Tsushima.

Last week, Japanese-born actor Toru Uchikado (known for voicing the vampire hunter Taka in the Netflix Castlevania series) invited Daisuke Tsuji onto his YouTube channel to re-enact some of Jin's moves from Ghost Of Tsushima - without any outside practice beforehand. It takes Tsuji a while to get the feel for the movements, but he eventually manages to pull off Jin’s Swordbreaker of Stone Stance and Flurry Strike of Water Stance among other attacks after seeing Uchikado demonstrate them. After some practice, Tsuji and Uchikado perform a full reenactment of the climatic samurai duel between Jin and his uncle Lord Shimura, with Tsuji naturally standing in as the former.

Fans have been able to see even more of Jin Sakai’s samurai skills in action thanks to Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut, which launched on both PlayStation systems late last month. This update added a new story campaign that sees Jin battle to stop a crazed Mongolian cult leader known as the Eagle in Japan’s southwestern Iki Island, as well as new attacks like the ability to ram enemies while on horseback. Further patches have fixed various bugs and glitches that players have come across, along with fun new touches like an adorable petting animation for Ghost Of Tsushima’s cuddly foxes.

Daisuke Tsuji may need a bit more practice before he is ready to flawlessly pull off the epic sword moves that Jin Sakai uses to cut down his foes in Ghost Of Tsushima, but seeing the actor that masterfully brought the fallen samurai to life perform these attacks in real life is certainly a treat for fans. Who knows, with some more time to polish his moves, Daisuke Tsuji could even be ready to play the live-action version of Jin in the Ghost Of Tsushima film. A film has been rumored to be in the works from Sony, as suggested by Red Dead Redemption 2 star Roger Clark. In the meantime, players can pull off all of Jin Sakai’s attacks on their own in Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut.
