The upcoming Ghost of Tsushima free update arrives in just over one week, as a new trailer providing details on Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer and New Game+ revealed that the game's Version 1.1 will release on October 16, 2020. Developer Sucker Punch's journey through Tsushima Island as samurai Jin Sakai has been praised for its gorgeous aesthetics, fluid gameplay, and deep game world, and is widely regarded as one of the finest PS4 exclusives ever made.

The action-adventure title, which borrows heavily from games like Assassin's Creed while also putting its own unique spin on several genre staples, was heavily anticipated prior to its initial release and managed to deliver on the hype. Ghost of Tsushima reviews were generous with praise, and as the title began collecting accolades, it became clear that Sucker Punch had managed to establish a new IP with a lot of potential for growth. While it appears the world of Ghost of Tsushima is poised to find a home in the PS5 games library, whether as a port or as a new game entirely, Sucker Punch has chosen to continue to give PS4 fans with even more content in the interim.

In an official announcement via the PlayStation Blog, senior game designer at Sucker Punch Darren Bridges revealed that the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends free update will launch on October 16, 2020. The announcement, which breaks down more of what fans can expect from Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, was also accompanied by a trailer that showed off different elements of the Version 1.1 update. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will feature four-player survival missions alongside two-player story missions, while the free Ghost of Tsushima update that comes with Version 1.1 will also introduce New Game+, one of the most heavily-requested features from fans who have already beaten the game's story.

Details on Ghost of Tsushima's New Game+ mode were also provided, and Sucker Punch will be implementing a system using the newly introduced Ghost Flower currency to ensure completing Tales or activities a second time isn't just treading old ground. New dyes and vanity gear found only in New Game+ will be available from the new Ghost Flower merchant.

With a slew of new Ghost of Tsushima updates for both its single-player campaign and Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer modes, Version 1.1 is bound to have thousands of players returning to Sucker Punch's gorgeous world in mid-October. With the holiday season around the corner, it wouldn't be surprising to see a bump in Ghost of Tsushima sales numbers heading into December, either - an already great game is adding even more reasons to play it, and those who haven't done so already will likely be tempted by everything Sucker Punch is offering here.
