Details shared by developer Sucker Punch Productions indicates that Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut boasts the easiest solution for transferring save files from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5. Ahead of the console's launch, some developers, such those behind Dirt 5 and Maneater, made it clear that save transfers weren't doable. Other teams found a way, but the process proved far from streamlined.

To transfer save files for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, for instance, players must first upload their PS4 save via the title's loading menu. Once the process is confirmed on the last-gen hardware, users have to boot up the game on PS5, head to the 'New Game' selection page, then download the PS4 file. All should go well from there, allowing PS5 owners to pick up their web-swinging adventure where they left off on PS4. The likes of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have since sped up the lengthy process; now it looks like at least one first-party project has followed suit.

With the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut nigh, Sucker Punch recently took to Twitter to explain how save transfers between PS4 and PS5. Those who've played the game in backward compatibility on PS5 need only to have a save on their console storage; launching the Director's Cut and clicking "Transfer PS4 Console Save" should do the trick. If transferring directly from PS4, fans can rely on PS Plus cloud saves to get the job done. Push Square notes that non-PS Plus members should be able to utilize a USB drive when moving the file around. And, yes, Sucker Punch confirmed that all previously earned Trophies will pop on PS5 once the transfer process is complete.

Hopefully, future save file transfers between PS4 and PS5 prove just as simple to manage, especially since it's clear that cross-gen releases aren't going anywhere in the near future. Fans can find how just how easy the process is for Ghost of Tsushima once the Director's Cut goes live this Friday.

The Director's Cut version of GoT packs in director's commentary, a new outfit for Jin, the Legends co-op mode, and, most importantly, the Iki Island expansion. Jin will travel to the archipelago in an effort to learn more about a lingering Mongol presence. While exploring the locale, players can expect to meet new characters, learn different skills, and come face-to-face with a wide array of challenges.
