Along with a series of other improvements, the recent release of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut also includes an adorable upgrade to the fox animations within the game. While the original PS4 release of Ghost of Tsushima was praised by many, the Director’s Cut for the PS5 has developed and improved upon some of the game's mechanics. In addition to these changes, a new expansion, Iki Island, was added to Ghost of Tsushima in August, to accompany its PlayStation 5 upgrade. The Iki Island expansion allows players to once more step into the shoes of Jin Sakai, while also experiencing a new story and setting with the samurai.
Throughout Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, players will encounter new foes to overcome, take on additional side activities, and unlock further uses for items such as Jin’s grappling hook. On its release, the new version of the game had a few small flaws, but developer Sucker Punch has been steadily releasing patches for Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut in order to address these issues. However, one area within Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut that needs no tweaking is its adorable fox animations.
As shared by Twitter account CanYouPetTheDog, the animations for the foxes within Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut have been upgraded. While the Ghost of Tsushima foxes have always been able to receive pets as they lead Jin to weapon-upgrading shrines across the island, their animations have always been limited. However, thanks to the Iki Island expansion, the Ghost of Tsushima foxes will now joyously tap their feet on the spot while waiting to be petted. If this isn't wholesome enough, the foxes will now also allow Jin to scratch their bellies. Needless to say, this is utterly adorable and a welcome upgrade from the base PS4 game.
The foxes within Ghost of Tsushima have always been a fan favorite. Before the release of the Director’s Cut, an adorable Ghost of Tsushima fox plush was created by merchandise company Fangamer, warming fans’ hearts and lightening their wallets. In a departure from the in-game foxes, however, this adorable cuddly companion came complete with sword and samurai armor, in an homage to protagonist Jin.
These adorable creatures have been such a popular inclusion that within only 10 days of the base game’s original release on the PlayStation 4, Ghost of Tsushima foxes had received 8.8 million pets from players. By now, that number will have undoubtedly risen exponentially. But given the adorable new animations foxes possess in Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, this number will likely see a considerable upswing as players seek out these lovable animals.
