Ubisoft recently confirmed Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint will receive new content sometime this year; the fresh additions will include "a few surprises," as well as content based on player feedback. Ghost Recon Breakpoint's fall 2019 launch did not get off to a good start. Several performance issues and missing features, such as AI teammates, were central to the criticism surrounding the tactical title's initial rollout. Breakpoint's egregious microtransactions only made matters worse, but developer Ubisoft Paris has spent the last year and change working to improve the overall experience.

Ghost Experience counted among the more transformative updates to the latest Ghost Recent entry. Upon its release in March 2020, this particular update allowed players to choose between Regular and Immersive modes, the latter of which removed gear levels, added in realistic loot, and introduced more robust tactical settings. Post-launch updates have additionally brought characters from other franchises into the mix. Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher joined the Ghosts for the Deep State adventure last spring, for example. Earlier this year, three Rainbow Six Siege operatives - Ash, Finka, and Thatcher - appeared in Breakpoint for Operation Amber Ruin. Now players can anticipate even more reasons to jump back into Aurora throughout the year.

In a Twitter post on the official Ghost Recon account, Ubisoft announced plans to "bring new content to Ghost Recon Breakpoint throughout 2021." Future additions, according to the statement, will take inspiration from player feedback. The development crew at Ubisoft Paris also intends to introduce "a few surprises" throughout this year. Release details and other need-to-know specifics presently remain under wraps, though fans can expect the developer to share a content roadmap in the weeks ahead.

These cursory plans align with what developers have said in the past - Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be playable for years to come. Ongoing support with updates and fresh content is undoubtedly the best way to keep players invested long-term, though there's currently no way of knowing whether the upcoming additions will prove interesting enough to positively impact the player-base.

Developers behind several other Ubisoft-published titles have big plans in place for their respective games throughout this year, too. Assassin's Creed Valhalla players are awaiting the rollout of its two big expansions, along with a few free updates. More story-based content is also on the horizon for Ubisoft Quebec's Immortals Fenyx Rising. And Rainbow Six Siege's Operation Crimson Heist will unleash a new Operator named Flores in March.
