Magnezone is one of the few dual Electric-type Pokémon that players can get in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and it also happens to be one of the most easily obtainable characters that players can add to their party. Magnezone was one of the many Pokémon introduced in the original Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl that evolved from Pokémon introduced in a previous generation. Its pre-evolved forms, Magnemite and Magneton, have been part of the series ever since Pokémon Red and Green were released, giving it a nostalgic feel without being part of the original 151 Pokémon.

Magnezone is both an Electric- and Steel-type Pokémon, and it's one of the best competitive Electric-type Pokémon in BDSP as well. However, as an Electric- and Steel-type Pokémon, Magnezone suffers from having a 4x weakness to Ground-type Pokémon moves like Earth Power and Earthquake. Unfortunately, these moves are all too common to see on many higher-level Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and Magnezone's low Defense stat makes it even harder to use when facing a type disadvantage.

Fortunately, because Magnezone is part Steel-type, it has all the resistances associated with it, like Normal-, Grass-, Ice-, Psychic-, Bug-, Rock-, Dragon-, and Fairy-type moves, and full immunity to Poison-type attacks. Additionally, some of its resistances synergize with the resistances of Electric-type Pokémon moves, further increasing its resistance to receiving quarter damage from Flying- and Steel-type moves, and half damage from other Electric-type moves in Pokémon BDSP as well. Finally, thanks to the Grand Underground in Pokémon BDSP, players can get a Magnezone early in-game.

How To Get Magnezone in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Pokémon BDSP Best Competitive Electric-Type Magnezone

To get a Magnezone in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players will first need to get the Explorer Kit in Eterna City. Afterward, they can use the Explorer Kit at any time to reach the Grand Underground. Next, players should defeat Gardenia and earn the Eterna City Gym Badge because this will increase the level of Pokémon available in the Grand Underground. While players won't be able to find Magnezone, they can find a Magnemite close to level 30, at which point it begins evolving into Magneton. Magnemite can be found in the Spacious, Whiteout, Glacial, and Icy caves, though the latter three aren't available until players get close to the Snowpoint City Gym in Pokémon BDSP.

After receiving a Magneton, head to any part of Mt. Coronet and level up Magneton once. Magneton's specific evolution requirements require it to be leveled up once within the range of Mt. Coronet in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl only. In other Pokémon titles, Magneton would typically evolve by leveling up wherever that game's strongest magnetic field is. Magneton has the potential to evolve into Magnezone at any level, allowing players to have Magnezone early in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
