Tinder is now helping its users find a date for a wedding. It's the dating app's latest addition for assisting singles in finding matches. Last month, the app launched Explore, a feature to help users connect with other users with the same interests. And, earlier this year, it made it possible for people to add a video to their profile. The app also added a feature called Hot Takes. It polls two users on what they think about something. Then, the users can decide if they want to match based on each other's answers.
Tinder isn't the only app rolling out new features to help its users. Bumble allows its users to have an audio or video date right on the app. According to The Verge, this year, it also launched a "Night In" feature where users can have a virtual trivia night right from home. Per a Forbes article from last year, OkCupid released a new system with new categories to make it easier for its users to find matches.
On Thursday, Tinder launched a Plus One feature in Explore for members to find a date for a wedding. Tinder also teamed up with WeddingWire, a wedding planning resource, and is giving the first 100 members who sign up for Plus One a grant of $460 to help cover the costs of attending a wedding. This is all good news for singles. According to WeddingWire, there will be a 20 percent increase in weddings in 2021 and 2022 due to many being postponed during the pandemic. Tinder also noted a 45 percent increase in people saying "plus one" in their bios just from the beginning of this year.
How to Find Your Plus One
If someone has friends or family's wedding on their calendar but no significant other, they don't have to show up to these celebrations alone. Tinder is making it easier than ever to find a date. Just sign in to the Tinder app. Then, go to the Explore section by clicking the four boxes. The catch is, users will have to be a Tinder member to sign up for the new feature. Then, users can select if they are "looking for, or willing to be, a wedding date."
Tinder is also helping its members ease their anxiety about attending in-person events. After attending virtual events for a year, users can get a refresher for planning their trip. For example, WeddingWire has created a guest guide for attending a wedding. This includes everything from planning the outfit, budgeting for attending, buying a gift and proper etiquette for the event.
