Scaramouche, more recently known as The Wanderer in Genshin Impact, is one of the most emblematic figures in HoYoverse’s RPG, and he has a few connections to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody aside from the obvious naming. The highly anticipated 5-star Anemo hero arrives as a playable character in patch 3.3. During the update’s story content, players will see how the malicious Scaramouche transforms into the friendly Wanderer.

In terms of gameplay, he brings forward a few unique and exclusive skills and tactics. Wanderer’s Elemental Skill, Hanega: Song of the Wind, makes him as light as air and allows him to hover around and attack opponents for a limited time. His Elemental Burst is a quick AoE Anemo attack that can inflict thousands of points in damage in a few seconds. These details have enticed Genshin Impact players, despite the Wanderer’s previous leaks regarding skills and materials.

Scaramouche Has Clear Connections to Bohemian Rhapsody

The character Wanderer poses for the image.

Scaramouche's name is not the only connection he has to Queen’s classic rock hit "Bohemian Rhapsody," many of which have been collected on the character's Genshin Impact Fandom page. For instance, HoYo’s soundtrack that accompanied his introduction cutscene during the limited event Unreconciled Stars in November 2020 is called “Ominous Fandango” – the latter being another notoriously uncommon word that is used in the British band’s song.

There's also the fact that Raiden Shogun’s name is Beelzebul, a demon referenced in "Bohemian Rhapsody." Despite not putting a devil aside for him, Inazuma’s ruler and Scaramouche’s creator, one of the characters confirmed for Genshin Impact 3.3’s reruns, did doom him when she abandoned him and “left him to die.” In fact, the line “I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me” in Queen’s lyrics could easily be applied to the ex-Fatui Harbinger, seeing how much of a tragic figure he is. Still revolving around Inazuma, his trauma with the land of eternity can also be interpreted as an homage to the line “Thunderbolts and lightning, very, very frightening me.

Scaramouche's fall from grace in version 3.2, when he loses the fight against Nahida and the Traveler, could also be read in "Bohemian Rhapsody"’s lyrics, with the “little high, little low” line in the song. Even the way he is defeated, with the usage of a samsara, could refer to the opening lines “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?” Of all the characters in Genshin Impact, Wanderer’s connection to the popular song is undeniable.

Recently, HoYoverse shared his character trailer and, at the very end of the video, Scaramouche says “I wish I’d never been born at all.” In "Bohemian Rhapsody," a similar line is present in the lyrics “I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all.” Lastly, a far-fetched connection between Wanderer and the song is that the line “Any way the wind blows” could appoint to his recently acquired Anemo vision, which gives him the power of air. Players will know more and possibly discover even more references to Queen when Genshin Impact 3.3 is released on December 7.
