Developer HoYoverse has officially revealed the launch date for the Genshin Impact Version 3.0 update. Released back in 2020, the open-world RPG lets players explore the vast fantasy world of Teyvat while recruiting colorful new characters and completing a variety of quests. HoYoverse recently held a Genshin Impact 3.0 livestream, during which its revealed exciting new details about the game's next big content drop.
As a live-service title, Genshin Impact is updated with new content on a regular basis. Each new version of the fantasy adventure brings with it new quests, characters, weapons or locations to discover. Just as the game's 2.0 update added the new region of Inazuma back in July 2021, the highly anticipated Genshin Impact Version 3.0 will introduce the mysterious region of Sumeru. Associated with Kusanali, the God of Wisdom, Sumeru is also closely linked to the plant-based element of Dendro. Genshin Impact Version 3.0 will add Dendro as a new gameplay mechanic, complete with original elemental reactions, and new Genshin Impact characters Tighnari and Collei will both wield Dendro abilities in battle.
A new Genshin Impact press release, revealed alongside a new trailer posted to YouTube by Genshin Impact, reveals that Version 3.0 will officially launch on August 24, 2022. Titled "The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings," the massive update will let players explore Sumeru's distinct rainforest and the breathtaking Sumeru City. Players will also be able to pull for two Dendro archers, the five-star Tighnari and the four-star Collei, as well as creating a Dendro-wielding Traveler. Version 3.0 will also introduce new quests and trials, new artifacts, new weapons and more when it goes live on August 24.
Genshin Impact Players Can Travel To Sumeru Very Soon
Just as HoYoverse prepares for another giant Genshin Impact update, a rival MMORPG Tower of Fantasy just recently launched on PC and mobile platforms. The open-world adventure looks quite similar to Genshin Impact due to its anime-inspired art style, open-world format and colorful cast of characters. However, instead of a lush fantasy world Tower of Fantasy takes players to the sci-fi planet of Aida hundreds of years in the future. Tower of Fantasy also emphasizes character customization and intense combat, but only time will tell whether it can challenge the impressive longevity of Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact has expanded dramatically since launch, and Version 3.0 may prove to be the open-world RPG's biggest update to date. Set to launch on August 24, the Sumeru expansion will let players explore a lush new region and meet a robust roster of new Dendro warriors. With Version 3.0 on the way, Genshin Impact players may want to save their pulls for a chance to recruit some Sumeru inhabitants to their team.
