Although the current version of Genshin Impact is still underway, the game's next major update is expected to arrive later this month. Presumably called Version 1.7, this update is rumored to add in the Inazuma region, as well as several new playable characters like Ayaka and Yoimiya. So, when should fans expect Genshin Impact 1.7 to arrive?

Typically, miHoYo releases Genshin Impact version updates every six weeks, making it fairly easy to predict. However, the upcoming update isn't like previous ones. There are even rumors and theories that this update will be Genshin Impact 2.0 because it adds Inazuma. So far, however, miHoYo has given no indication that Inazuma will actually show up in the next update - or that it will be called anything other than Version 1.7. However, the company usually hosts official livestreams detailing the latest content, which is expected to arrive later this week.

So far, nothing has been officially confirmed for the next update. However, new character reveals for Ayaka, Sayu, and Yoimiya were shown off by miHoYo last month, and they're expected to be playable in Genshin Impact's next bit of content. Assuming miHoYo will stick to its usual release schedule, this means Genshin Impact Version 1.7 will arrive on July 20, 2021. Depending on a player's time zone, however, it could arrive after midnight pushing the release to July 21, 2021.

When Genshin Impact 1.7's Update Is Likely To Release

Genshin Impact Next Update Inazuma Huge Why

For now, this is simply guesswork based on previous updates for Genshin Impact. Version 1.6 was expected to introduce Inazuma but didn't, so it's certainly possible that's the case this time around, too. Assuming Inazuma does arrive, however, it could be Genshin Impact's biggest update ever, since this would mean vast new areas to explore, characters to introduce, and quests to complete.

With such a big update, it's possible miHoYo will delay the next update's release past the usual six-week window. However, the company has given no indication that's the case - so for now, it's to be assumed that Version 1.7 will arrive on July 20, 2021, around the same time all previous major updates have occured.

This is arguably the first time since Genshin Impact's debut that so little is known about the next update. Typically, character leaks, events, and more have surfaced online already - and the name of the next update is already known. While many of the latest leaks and rumors have a good chance of being accurate, Genshin Impact 1.7 (or possibly 2.0) remains mostly a mystery. The next Genshin Impact livestream should arrive later this week, so fans shouldn't have to wait much longer for answers.
