Developer HoYoverse has revealed a new five-week release schedule for Genshin Impact Version 3.0 and its subsequent updates. The beloved action RPG takes players to the fantasy world of Teyvat to encounter in-depth quests, deadly foes and a large roster of playable characters. The Genshin Impact 3.0 launch date was recently revealed as August 24, and now the release dates of future updates have been unveiled too.

As a live-service title, Genshin Impact is constantly expanding through the regular release of new updates. These new Versions often add new characters and questlines, and particularly large updates can dramatically expand the world of Teyvat by adding entirely new regions to explore. Genshin Impact Version 2.0 added the archipelago of Inazuma, for example, while July's smaller 2.8 update brought in various quests and the Anemo character Shikanoin Heizou. Genshin Impact 3.0 is expected to be another large update, with HoYoverse adding the mysterious region of Sumeru and its associated Dendro element. Three new characters in Genshin Impact 3.0 named Collei, Dori, and Tighnari will also add more color to the RPG's roster.

A developer post on HoYoLAB reveals the release schedule for the next few Genshin Impact updates. As previously revealed, Version 3.0 will take players to the region of Sumeru on August 24 to meet new characters and complete new quests. Following this upcoming update Genshin Impact will receive a new Version every five weeks, shortening the previously-established six-week schedule for the game's updates. This means that Genshin Impact Version 3.1 will launch on September 28, though specific details remain a mystery.

  • Version 3.0 - expected to release on August 24, 2022
  • Version 3.1 - expected to release on September 28, 2022
  • Version 3.2 - expected to release on November 2, 2022
  • Version 3.3 - expected to release on December 7, 2022

As HoYoverse prepares to release Genshin Impact updates at an even faster rate, a rival MMO RPG called Tower of Fantasy was just recently launched by developer Hotta Studio. With its anime-inspired art design and open-world RPG gameplay, the new title looks undoubtedly similar to Genshin Impact. However, Tower of Fantasy takes players to a futuristic sci-fi world and emphasizes character customization, so only time will tell whether competition heats up between the two exciting titles.

Genshin Impact receives new content on a consistent basis, but HoYoverse seems determined to expand the world of Teyvat even faster. By decreasing the time between Versions from six weeks to five, the developer will be able to fit more updates into each year. Given the enduring popularity of Genshin Impact, getting four more updates before the end of 2022 is a very exciting prospect.

Genshin Impact is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, iOS, Android and PC.
