The new 1.5 update for Genshin Impact will give players a new chance to unlock the popular character Zhongli. Genshin Impact is an open-world action role-playing game developed by miHoYo and released in September of last year. The game has been very successful since launch, leading to an abundance of post-launch support from the developers.

The recent reveal of Genshin Impact's 1.5 update announced a ton of new content coming to the action RPG, including several new characters. Developer miHoYo has announced Eula and Yanfei for Genshin Impact, two brand new heroes that will be encountered by the player in some upcoming events. Eula will be a powerful Cryo user with hard-hitting sword attacks, while Yanfei is another pyromancer who utilizes fire and Catalysts in combat. Outside of new characters, Genshin Impact's 1.5 update will also introduce a housing system, allowing players to build a home in one of three locations. These houses can then be decorated with furniture crafted by the player themselves.

The Version 1.5 Special Program, posted to YouTube by Genshin Impact, reveals that players will be given another chance to unlock Zhongli. The character first appeared in the Archon Quests, Genshin Impact’s main story, and then was made available as part of an event last year. The rock-manipulating Zhongli's original Banner, Gentry of Hermitage, will be run again so that players can acquire him at a higher level than his original release. This gives players who missed out on Zhongli a chance to earn the popular party member, or those who already have Zhongli can get him in a more powerful state. The exact date and duration of Gentry of Hermitage's rerun have not yet been revealed.

Genshin Impact's popularity is evidenced by miHoYo's continued support of the title, with fans eagerly awaiting the game's next big update. Current-generation gamers can also look forward to Genshin Impact's launch on PlayStation 5, which was recently revealed to arrive on April 28. The PS5 version of Genshin Impact will feature improvements such as native 4k resolution and faster load times.

The 1.5 update and PlayStation 5 release are two small steps on a content roadmap that apparently extends twelve years into the future, as leaks claim that developer miHoYo has drastically increased the size of its development plan for the title. Genshin Impact's cycle of content ensures that players constantly return to the title, at the risk of missing out on desirable content. Releasing brand new characters brings back veteran players while bringing back old favorites like Zhongli ensures that new players never permanently miss out on content. With a roadmap that extends well into the future, it seems likely that Genshin Impact will stay relevant for quite a while.
