Genshin Impact’s Sumeru map brought many new underground areas to explore, increasing the number of places players can actually go. Beyond that, there are many different puzzles, enemies, resources, and rewards that are exclusive to these parts, making them obligatory for those who want to experience HoYoverses’s open-world RPG to its fullest. Of course, other regions, such as Inazuma, also have underground areas, but Sumeru significantly added more.

There are over 20 underground areas in Sumeru and accessing them can be tricky for players who are unfamiliar with the entry points. In their majority, these do not have special requirements, like Inazuma’s Enkanomiya or Liyue’s Chasm in Genshin Impact, but a few are, in fact, blocked by quest progression. Nonetheless, having access to Genshin Impact’s underground Sumeru map is an effective method of exploring now that it has been incorporated into an official tool.

HoYoLAB Interactive Map Shows Sumeru’s Underground In Genshin Impact

A screenshot showing the Underground Map feature in Genshin Impact's official Interactive Map in HoYoLAB.

HoYoLAB’s official Interactive Map tool shows all of Sumeru’s underground areas in Genshin Impact, including the ones added with Version 3.4’s Desert of Hadramaveth. This means that players can now access the map through the browser or app version of HoYoLAB and trigger the “Underground Map” function, which will show the underground areas overlaid on top of the original map. This makes finding specific locations, such as Genshin Impact’s City of the Deceased Domain much easier.

There are a few areas locked out by quest progression, such as Abdju Pit in the Great Red Sands and The Orchard of Pairidaeza in the furthest depths of Mt. Damavand. This will require players to start and progress through the quests associated with each area to unlock the entirety of Sumeru’s underground in Genshin Impact. It is important to note that the underground map feature is only available in Sumeru, so it cannot be used to see the underground area of the Araumi region in Inazuma, where players can face enemies like the Perpetual Mechanical Array in Genshin Impact.

Along with the underground filter in Genshin Impact’s official Sumeru map, players can also use the sub-menu to trigger Waypoints, Enemies, Resources, Puzzle Chests, Open-World Chests, and much more. This can provide them with a more accurate and precise understanding of certain elements’ locations, like the new Sand Grease Pupas, many of which are found underground, and the new Consecrated opponents in the Desert of Hadramaveth. The underground filter for Genshin Impact’s Sumeru region is not currently available in-game, but having access to it through HoYoLAB can significantly improve one’s exploration experience.
