Recent Genshin Impact leaks indicate that Dendro nation Sumeru could be Genshin Impact’s largest region yet, surpassing the current leader, the Geo nation of Liyue. Liyue has been explorable in Genshin Impact since the game's release in September 2020. Nearly two years later, Sumeru's addition is set to not only overtake Liyue, but map leaks from the Genshin Impact 3.0 beta test suggest it could be as large as the nations of Mondstadt and Liyue combined. If true, Genshin Impact's ever-expanding map could be getting one of its biggest updates ever when the Dendro region is released later this Summer.

Genshin Impact players have long waited for the arrival of Sumeru, the Dendro region of Teyvat. Currently, the game has no playable characters attuned to the Dendro element. The first playable Dendro characters are expected to arrive along with Sumeru in Genshin Impact’s 3.0 update. Recent leaks from Genshin Impact’s 3.0 beta test revealed the identity of at least two future Dendro-wielding characters, one 4-star and one 5-star expected to be the first banner character of the 3.0 update.

Reputable Genshin Impact leaker BLANK shared an image of Genshin Impact’s existing map, with highlighted areas representing the new explorable areas arriving in version 3.0. The region south of the Chasm is expected to be Sumeru, a lush, rainforest-filled region home to unknown Dendro enemies. When visiting Sumeru for the first time, it's rumored that the Traveler will be accompanied by a Sumeru character in Genshin Impact, who will aid the Traveler in navigating the new region.

Sumeru Could Be Genshin Impact's Largest Region Yet Sumeru Landscape

The map shared by BLANK also showed a second highlighted region in the most Northeastern corner of Teyvat, however, it's unknown whether this will be part of Sumeru too. Some Genshin Impact players responded to the leak by pointing out that this region was previously believed to be the location of the Haar Islands, now known as the Golden Apple Archipelago. The Golden Apple Archipelago is a set of islands featured in a limited-time event during version 1.6. During the event, the Dodo-King invited Klee to the islands, accompanied by numerous other Genshin Impact playable characters. Since the limited-time event, the Golden Apple Archipelago in Genshin Impact remains inaccessible, however, it seems like this could change in version 3.0.

If the recent leaks are correct, Sumeru will overtake Liyue as the largest explorable region in Teyvat. This could change again in the future, with the arrival of Teyvat’s remaining regions, Snezhnaya, Natlan, and Fontaine, the nations of Cryo, Pyro, and Hydro respectively. Genshin Impact's map continues to grow, adding numerous new nations and minor regions in updates following its release. Genshin Impact's 3.0 update will undoubtedly be huge, bringing with it a wealth of content including Sumeru, the first-ever Dendro playable characters, and possibly the return of version 1.6's Golden Apple Archipelago as a permanent explorable area.
