Now that Version 1.2 of Genshin Impact is live, players are learning all about the open-world RPG's newest mechanics and features. One of the most important mechanics for players to get used to is the Sheer Cold meter, which is part of the new Dragonspine region. Here's everything to know about the new mechanic, as well as the best ways to survive in Genshin Impact's new snow-covered environment.

Once again taking inspiration from Breath of the Wild, Genshin Impact's Sheer Cold meter essentially works the same way as Breath of the Wild's Temperature Gauge. The Sheer Cold meter will slowly fill as players explore the wintry Dragonspine region. If the meter fills up all the way, then characters will begin steadily losing health. However, there are multiple ways to survive and keep Genshin Impact's Sheer Cold meter from filling up too quickly.

Obviously, having a healer in the party will make things easier, since a character like Barbara can use her healing skills to patch up characters before their HP drops too low. But for those wanting to keep the Sheer Cold meter from rising at all, there are still plenty of ways to do that. This way, characters can survive in the harsh, freezing atmosphere of Genshin Impact's new Dragonspine region.

How To Keep The Sheer Cold Meter From Filling Up

The Sheer Cold meter can be found at the bottom of the screen, and it looks like a blue bar above the HP gauge. As players make their way through the mountains of Dragonspine, the meter will continue to fill. Torches, Teleport Waypoints, and Statues of the Seven are scattered around Dragonspine, as in other regions in Genshin Impact, and all of them will keep the Sheer Cold meter from filling up. Additionally, bonfires can be activated by discovering small pillars that are scattered around the new region, and those will nullify the Sheer Cold meter as well.

A couple of new features will also stop the Sheer Cold meter. Warming Seelie, which look like fiery will-o'-the-wisps, can be found in the overworld and will grant a warming buff in addition to leading players to treasure chests. Scarlet Quartz, which can be obtained from mining the crimson mineral deposits scattered throughout Dragonspine, will also keep the Sheer Cold meter from rising. This is also important for unlocking the newest Domain in Genshin Impact's 1.2 update.

The Sheer Cold meter may take some getting used to, since it's such a new mechanic. However, players will need to keep an eye on it if they want to make sure their characters don't start losing health unnecessarily while exploring Dragonspine. Thankfully, there are multiple ways in Genshin Impact to survive and keep the Sheer Cold meter from filling up.
