With its open-world exploration and action-RPG combat, Genshin Impact has a lot going for it. But the biggest draw to the game is still its characters. With an ever-growing roster of playable characters, this is what keeps players coming back to Genshin Impact - and spending money in the game. Thanks to the newest Unreconciled Stars event, players are introduced to a new character named Scaramouche - but will he actually become a playable character?

Fresh off the Genshin Impact 1.1 update, which is still ongoing, players have already been introduced to multiple new playable characters. A few of the teased characters, like Zhongli and Xinyan, aren't even in the game yet. Now, it looks like developer miHoYo is already planning on teasing future characters before the confirmed new ones even appear.

Unreconciled Stars is a three-part event added to Genshin Impact in the game's newest update. This event primarily focuses on Fischl and Mona, but it also introduces a new character to Genshin Impact's story named Scaramouche. He's one of the Fatui Harbingers, which means he'll play an important role in future updates of the game. However, it's unclear if he'll actually become a playable character in Genshin Impact. Still, there's plenty of evidence to suggest he will.

When Scaramouche Will Be Playable In Genshin Impact

Like most of the Fatui Harbingers, Scaramouche gets his name from commedia dell-arte. In Italian theatre, Scaramouche was a stock character, but there's plenty of reasons to think he'll be more than just a stock NPC in Genshin Impact. Very rarely does the game introduce players to characters as unique-looking as Scaramouche without actually making them playable. More than likely, this is an in-game tease for a future playable character.

Characters like Tartaglia and Zhongli both started out this way in Genshin Impact, and while Childe-Tartaglia is already in the game thanks to the 1.1 update, Zhongli is being added very soon. Childe-Tartaglia is also one of the Fatui Harbingers too, so there's precedence for Scaramouche to make the transition to a playable character from that organization as well. The biggest question is when players should expect for Scaramouche to become playable in Genshin Impact.

Since miHoYo has apparently already announced all the characters coming to Genshin Impact in the 1.1 update, it's reasonable to assume Scaramouche will be added in 1.2 or 1.3. With updates scheduled for the game every six weeks, that means players shouldn't have to wait too much longer. Patch 1.2 should be arriving December 23rd, with 1.3 releasing in February 2021.
