Players of miHoYo's free-to-play action RPG Genshin Impact have received compensation after being wrongfully banned from the game. Genshin Impact is one of the most popular free-to-play games on the market, offering a huge open-world environment to explore alongside a robust battle system. The game has previously drawn comparisons to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild due to its style and gameplay.

Genshin Impact has amassed millions of players since it first released in September 2020, and has become incredibly popular on both mobile devices and console. While free to download, the game contains some microtransactions in the form of gacha game monetization. Players are able to unlock new characters, resources, weapons, and more through the game's microtransactions, though it's worth noting that Genshin Impact can be played without spending any money at all. Despite its success, the game hasn't been as fast at making money as Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, which earned $100 million faster than both Pokémon GO and Genshin Impact.

Multiple Genshin Impact players were recently hit with a one-month ban after miHoYo incorrectly sanctioned them for "using third party software or plug-ins." Now it seems the developer has reversed this decision for some gamers, even offering compensation for their trouble. Reddit user and Genshin player rarno123 took to the r/Genshin_Impact subreddit to share their story and show off their gifts (via DualShockers). Explaining the situation in the comments, rarno123 said: "A lot of people were falsely banned recently, the forum was blowing up with tons of Ar50+ players getting banned for third party plugins without any idea why, so glad Mihoyo acted on this mistake and gave us all our accounts back though!" The player shared a screenshot of their compensation from the developer, 1000 Primogems and 9 Fragile Resin, along with an apology for "impact on your experience."

Innocent video game players are often caught in similar situations, with players of games like Call of Duty: Warzone also reporting unfair bans. It's not known how many players were incorrectly banned from Genshin Impact, but miHoYo's compensation gifts at least go some way in rectifying the problem. Any Genshin Impact players who have been banned for the same reason as rarno123 are being encouraged to contact customer services. The user advised players in similar situations to them, saying that they both emailed customer services and opened a support ticket through another account. Bans can be appealed by email at genshin_cs@mihoyo.com, though it's warned that it can take several days to receive a response.

While some Genshin Impact players wait to be unbanned, others are waiting for the game to come to Nintendo Switch. The Switch release of Genshin Impact may have hit development problems, with one rumor claiming that hardware limitations of the console are a factor. The game, which is playable on mobile, is one Nintendo fans are eagerly awaiting, though it's not clear when it will release.
