Genshin Impact is an open world RPG with some MMO and gacha game mechanics. It recently released for PC, mobile, and PlayStation 4, with a Nintendo Switch port coming at a later date. Genshin Impact has a total of twenty-four playable characters, including the player's starting avatar, called the Traveler.

Because of its RNG-based gacha game mechanics, players can reroll for characters with better stats and ratings. However, unless players want to spend real money, it's a bigger ordeal than in other gacha games. It isn't simply clicking a button over and over again for people who want to keep this free-to-play game actually free. Here's all the steps players will need to take if they wish to reroll for characters in Genshin Impact.

First, there is a completely free way to reroll characters in Genshin Impact, but it's going to take some time. Additionally, this is much easier on PC and mobile than on PS4, since PlayStation links players to their PSN accounts. Either way, the first step is playing through the beginning parts of Genshin Impact until players reach Adventurer Rank 5. A player's Adventurer Rank levels up based on finding treasure chests, completing quests, and other exploration-related factors. Depending on playstyles, attaining Adventurer Rank 5 should take about half an hour, especially for anyone who's already played through the beginning and knows what to expect.

How Rerolling Works In Genshin Impact

In Genshin Impact, weapons and characters are obtained through a gacha game mechanic called Wishes. Players can reroll by restarting the game from the very beginning and achieving Adventurer Rank 5, which unlocks Wishes. Then, players can use a Wish to try to obtain a better character. The best characters have 5-star ratings, but the RNG for obtaining one is incredibly low. To do this without spending real money, players just have to keep restarting the game using a different account. Some people have reported being banned from Genshin Impact for excessive rerolling using this method, so players should be wary of doing it too much.

Granted, playing through thirty minutes or so of content for a single reroll isn't ideal. Thankfully, there are other ways to reroll too. Primogems are an in-game item that players can find by exploring the open-world of Genshin Impact. However, Primogems aren't common, so it will take even longer grinding enough to spend on multiple rerolls than it would to just restart the game with a different account. Primogems can also be purchased by using Genesis Crystals, which are bought with real-world money. This is when the true gacha mechanics come into play. To efficiently reroll enough for a 5-star character, players will have to spend real money or waste a lot of hours resetting the game or grinding Primogems.

Although 5-star characters aren't necessary to enjoy the main story of Genshin Impact, some players will undoubtedly want to obtain the best characters for themselves. There are a couple of free methods for doing this, although spending real money will cut out excessive restarts. It really all depends on what players value most - their money, or their time.
