One of the most mysterious elements of Genshin Impact is the origin of the Traveler's guide and closest friend, Paimon. Paimon is not only one of the most important characters in the game so far, but also the very face and mascot of Genshin Impact itself. Due to the nature of her origin and importance to the game, many players have created a slew of theories and analyses from the few hints that Paimon has left about her backstory through various voice lines and interactions.

Paimon, in most situations throughout the story of Genshin Impact, is not a very serious character, often self-aggrandizing herself, or overestimating her combat prowess and strength. Due to this, it is very difficult to take many of her voice lines seriously, leading to the creation of Genshin Impact theories for Paimon to help explain her role in the story. Despite this, in one instance, Paimon spoke very candidly about a dream she once had, which may have hinted at some information that subconsciously reveals the truth of her origin, and potentially her fate in the story.

In A Throwaway Scene In Genshin Impact, Paimon Could Have Revealed More Than Thought

YouTuber Doro44 recently released a video analyzing a voice line in which Genshin Impact's mascot, Paimon, reveals a dream where she was a slime, and is eventually killed by a chef who made her into a smoothie. Right after she notes, "Because slimes are monsters, even though they look cute, they usually cause trouble and end up getting killed by adventurers." Although this seems like an inconsequential joke, Doro44 notes that the dream could be a manifestation of Paimon's secrets in Genshin Impact.

Paimon Could Be A Genshin Impact Monster

YouTuber Doro44 also mentions the parallel between Paimon's voice line and herself, specifically noting that Paimon is a cute and kind creature, who frequently tries to help the Traveler in Genshin Impact, but more often than not fails to be effective. Paired with the fact that she identifies with a slime who is killed in her dream, this theory shows that Paimon could potentially be a rare monster appearing as a harmless creature. Paimon's dream and analysis of the human-monster relationship could be a symbol of her worries that her status as a monster might lead the Traveler, a noteworthy adventurer, to abandon her.

This theory, if true, could also be foreshadowing a massive event that could come during the climax of Genshin Impact's plot and story: a conflict between Paimon and the Traveler. Although we have seen the pair argue and bicker, most of the time these scenes are kept light-hearted and comedic. However, if Paimon is a monster, the revelation may cause her to leave the protagonist for the first time, even if the Traveler accepts her despite her origin. Hopefully, in future Genshin Impact patches, Paimon's voice lines will help support this interesting theory.
