With its typical six-week schedule, Genshin Impact brings new content including Quests, events, and characters in each version update. The most recent characters to be teased are Genshin Impact’s Shenhe and Yun Jin who are projected to appear in Version 2.4. As the majority of Genshin Impact’s earnings come from Banner sales, it makes sense that new characters are teased often in order to maintain player engagement.

This six-week formula of new content has proven successful so far. However, it begs the question of what will happen once the new character updates begin to dwindle. As the road map for Genshin Impact becomes closer to completion, it may be more difficult for the developers to maintain the same momentum as the first few years of launch.

The creation of new characters takes an incredible amount of design work. Genshin Impact’s success may be contingent on new characters as they are a popular reason for people to play and spend money. Instead of depending on new characters to entice players, miHoYo can choose to upgrade features that already exist, such as Genshin Impact’s Co-Op feature. There are many directions that miHoyo can take in order to bring in new players as well as maintain their current ones, ensuring the game’s continued success.

Genshin Impact Needs A Fully Customizable Traveler

Following Genshin Impact’s “Golden Apple Archipelago” event, character skins were first introduced for Jean and Barbara. This opened the opportunity for other characters to have special skins, most likely based on an event or a part of the character’s backstory. Aside from the playable characters of the Archive, the developers should allow the Traveler to be fully customizable.

Ideally, players should be able to customize the traveler before the beginning of the first cutscene of the game, and then throughout their journey across Teyvat. Players can receive special customization accessories through celebration events such as the Windblume Festival, the Lantern Rite, and the Holiday season. By allowing players to customize Genshin Impact’s main protagonist at any time, they will be able to have their version of the Traveler correspond to individual preference, participate in special or Holiday-themed events, or even match with friends.

This customization feature allows players another outlet of creativity - in addition to the Serenitea Pot - which can be important especially when fans are awaiting new content that involves the traveler. With the release of new regions, it is expected that the Traveler will receive a new set of skills depending on the element of the region. This gives the Traveler the potential to be versatile in team compositions, meaning they will be used a lot more frequently as the story progresses. This added customizable feature will invite players to use the Traveler more often, as the character can represent something unique to each player.

Genshin Impact Could Go The Full MMORPG Route

Genshin 1-Year Anniversary Poster

With Teyvat shown through Genshin Impact’s growing map, many players are able to explore the vast open world with others due to the game’s Co-Op capabilities. The developers should go further and upgrade Co-Op Mode into a feature similar to a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Given that Co-Op Mode is only able to host four players at a time, this gives players the opportunity to expand their team of Adventurers in order to take on harder challenges, which may appear more frequently as the storyline progresses.

Similar to MMORPGs, there can be special maps that contain a certain type of monster that respawns quickly and regularly. This way, players can efficiently farm materials needed for their characters without having to trek through the entire map of Teyvat for each specific monster’s location. This also eliminates the long wait time for drops as most monsters in the open world respawn only after each Daily Server Reset.

Even following Genshin Impact’s Co-Op courtesy, it may be hard for players to find others to adventure with. By introducing an MMORPG feature as an extension of Co-Op Mode, it makes it easier to find and pair up with others, which can be especially beneficial to those who have trouble taking the initiative when looking for help. The live community hosted in this massive multiplayer world also gives players a sense of community as they can see and speak to all the players currently online in the same location. Whether it is to group up with others to take down Bosses or lounge around town with others, the shift from a limited Co-Op Mode to a full MMORPG is more than enough to keep players engaged once new characters stop arriving in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Could Add Guild Creation & Ranking Systems For Community Building

Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss Needs An Update

There are many types of players when it comes to Genshin Impact. Some may enjoy focusing on Genshin Impact’s story aspect, while others may favor calculating Artifact stats to ensure maximum damage. Genshin Impact does well in catering to a wide audience with different interests and needs. This can go further with the introduction of guilds, which are organized groups of players who regularly play together. Players should be able to invite and recruit other players into a guild, whether it is to have a community in which they can ask for help, have others to chat with, or share something unique with others.

As Bosses become increasingly difficult, it would be beneficial to have leaderboards that showcase which guilds are able to defeat the Boss in record time. This could appeal to players who regularly challenge Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss. The top contenders of each event period could be displayed on a leaderboard for name recognition and extra rewards, such as Primogems or Mora. This leaderboard could also give insight to what each guild represents, how powerful they are, or other information that may make recruiting members an easier process.

These community-wide events can help keep players engaged as it gives them something to work toward and maintain. Similar to the Spiral Abyss, it presents players with a challenge to overcome, though it will require different tactics aside from team compositions. For those who strive to be the best, ranking systems can do well in assisting healthy competition. With these additions and improvements to Genshin Impacts existing features, players will be encouraged to remain active and engaged for many version updates to come.
