The ever-growing roster of playable characters in Genshin Impact shows no signs of dwindling anytime soon. Dainsleif is a mysterious character that was shown off by developers at miHoYo back in September. So far, though, he hasn't appeared in the game and many fans are wondering if he's even playable. There's plenty of reasons to assume he's going to be playable at some point - the biggest question is when.
With Ganyu arriving soon in Genshin Impact's Version 1.2 content, many fans are already looking ahead to see what's next. New playable characters will certainly be a part of Genshin Impact's 1.3 update, although none have been officially confirmed so far. Because of this, it's certainly possible that Dainsleif may be coming in Version 1.3 - although, based on what's known about him, it may be considerably longer before he's actually playable.
Typically, Genshin Impact aligns its character releases with its story content, and this usually means which region players are in at the time. For instance, important characters from Liyue like Zhongli and Xinya were a part of the Liyue content in Version 1.1. Meanwhile, Albedo was the first Banner character for Version 1.2, which took place in the new Dragonspine region, an important area in Albedo's character arc. Dainleif has connections to the Khaenri'ah region, which is why it may be a long time before he releases in Genshin Impact.
When New Character Dainsleif May Release In Genshin Impact
The main story of Genshin Impact takes place on the continent of Teyvat, which is made up of seven nations with seven gods and corresponding elements. The long-rumored Inazuma nation is expected to arrive in Version 1.3 or 1.4, and other nations will surely follow as additional chapters are added into the game. However, Khaenri'ah is not a part of Teyvat, which means any content in that region may be months - or even years - away from releasing.
Still, other characters with ties to Khaenri'ah - like Albedo and Kaeya - are already in the game, so miHoYo may not wait that long to introduce Dainsleif. Multiple Genshin Impact character leaks have surfaced online, and Dainsleif hasn't been a part of them yet. That's more evidence to suggest he may not be arriving anytime soon, especially considering most Genshin Impact leaks have been pretty reliable so far.
Until miHoYo officially announces new characters for Version 1.3, or reveals more about Dainsleif, fans are only left guessing. With a design as unique as Dainsleif's, it's pretty likely he'll be a playable character. However, it's still unclear when exactly he'll be added to the roster in Genshin Impact.
