A new event in miHoYo's Genshin Impact, titled Lost Riches, allows players to hunt for treasure in exchange for special rewards. Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game, focused on building and improving a group of four heroes, which released free-to-play on September 28, 2020. The title is online-only and allows players to cooperate and travel together in groups of up to four.
As an always-online experience, due to its multiplayer nature, Genshin Impact has received an abundance of post-launch content from developer miHoYo. New playable characters have been frequently added to the game, expanding an already impressive roster of different characters with which players can fill out their crew. The game's newest playable character is Ganyu, a ranged cryomancer, who is expected to arrive new week. An entirely new area, called Dragonspine, also recently released as the very first expansion of Genshin Impact's world map.
A new Genshin Impact event starting on January 8, titled Lost Riches, will allow players to hunt down special treasure items and then exchange them for cosmetic rewards. Players will be able to obtain a Treasure Book and and a Treasure-Seeking Seelie, both of which will aid in the treasure hunting quest. Finding this treasure allows for the collection of Iron Coins, which can be traded in for one of several Mini Seelie items, which act as cosmetic companions.
Genshin Impact experienced a highly successful launch back in September, with the title reportedly pulling in more than $245 million in its first month. miHoYo's action RPG has also gained a large fanbase of players who eagerly await the game's frequent drops of new content, similar to fellow free-to-play title Among Us. One particularly skilled fan was able to construct the game's Rust Bow in real life, utilizing a 3D printer to create the massive ranged weapon. These tributes demonstrate the game's impact on players and the title's wide range of appeal since launch.
Developer miHoYo continues to support Genshin Impact and its fans with new content, giving the free-to-play title legs which are carrying it into the new year. While new characters are always the game's most exciting additions, an event such as Lost Riches can also serve to draw players back in to earn some limited-time items. With hidden treasure to unearth and special items to earn, many players will want to venture back into Genshin Impact for the Lost Riches event.
