Genshin Impact recently received a huge content update thanks to the new Electro region, Inazuma, being added to the game in Version 2.0. Perhaps most exciting for some players, Inazuma adds new playable characters, and the 2.1 update is right around the corner. 2.1 is set to add at least three other playable characters, including Sangonomiya Kokomi, leader of the Sangonomiya Resistance.

Considering Kokomi has only made a brief appearance so far in Genshin Impact's Inazuma storyline, not much is known about her. But as the leader of the Resistance against Raiden Shogun’s crusade against Vision-holders, she already has quite the reputation. Though she is a kind soul and good-hearted, she is also incredibly intelligent and a powerful strategist.

Kokomi is a 5-star character, so she will presumably have her own Banner in Genshin Impact. The Version 2.1 update is rumored to be launching on September 1, 2021, but Kokomo’s Banner is expected about three weeks later. She is a Hydro catalyst user, and with her Normal Attack, she can perform up to three consecutive attacks that take the form of swimming fish that deal Hydro damage. For her Charged Attack, Kokomi consumes stamina to deal AoE damage for a short time. Her Plunging Attack also deals AoE Hydro damage to nearby enemies.

Kokomi’s Elemental Skill in Genshin Impact is called Kurage’s Oath, which summons “Bake-Kurage” that can heal her allies and also deal Hydro damage to enemies. Her Elemental Burst is called the Kaijin Ceremony, which deals damage to surrounding enemies and surrounds Kokomi with a “ceremonial garment.” While the Kaijin Ceremony is active, Kokomi’s Normal and Charged Attacks and her Elemental Skill DMG is increased based on her max HP. When these attacks hit opponents, Kokomi will restore her allies' HP based on her own max health. The Kaijin Ceremony also increases her resistance to interruption and allows her to walk on the water’s surface. All of these effects are cleared when Kokomi leaves the field, and the cooldown is 18 seconds.

The first of Kokomi’s Talents in Genshin Impact is called the Haworthia Casket. For this Talent, if Kokomi uses Bake-Kurage on the field while she is also using the Kaijin Ceremony, then the Bake-Kurage’s duration is refreshed. Her second talent, titled the Song of Pearls, will increase the attack bonus her Normal and Charged Attacks receive during the Kaijin Ceremony by 15% of her healing bonus. Princess of Watatsumi, her third Talent, decreases swimming stamina consumption for party members by 20%. This Talent is not stackable with any others of a similar nature. Kokomi’s last Talent, called the Flawless Strategy, gives Kokomi a 25% healing bonus but decreases her crit rate by 100%.

Unfortunately, those who want to pull for Kokomi will have to wait until Genshin Impact 2.1's expected release date of September 1 to start farming for her Ascension materials as most of them aren’t available yet. Though players can always begin collecting Varunda Lazurite materials if they wish. Although miHoYo has yet to offer official confirmation, Kokomi's expected release date is around September 21, 2021.
