A Genshin Impact fan has turned some of the game’s most popular characters into Pokémon trainer cards. The Pokémon Trading Card Game features three main types of the cards, which included Pokémon, Energy, and Trainer cards. The trainer cards, which are further subdivided into several types, offer a more supportive role in a player’s deck by featuring special effects like allowing players to draw or discard cards, search through their deck or discard pile, and more. The different special effects that trainer cards provide have made some of them Pokémon’s most powerful cards.

The massive popularity and community of Genshin Impact has inspired fans to work on some interesting creations to celebrate the game, such as one fan making digitally-aged versions of some of Genshin Impact’s younger characters, including Razor, Bennett, and Noelle. The game recently released its new Hangout Event feature that lets players go on dates with some of the game’s characters, including the aforementioned Bennett and Noelle along with Chongyun and Barbara as well.

Reddit user MidNite_Poet shared his work on the Genshin Impact subreddit and rather than only creating digital mockups of the trainer cards, they actually made physical versions of their custom Genshin Impact trainer cards. MidNite_Poet chose to make trainer cards for some of their favorite Genshin Impact characters, including Klee, Diona, Hu Tao, and Ganyu. The fan-made cards not only feature the image and name of the character but come complete with their own unique special effect akin to a real Pokémon trainer card.

According to MidNite_Poet, they were able to make their custom Genshin Impact trainer cards by using actual Pokémon cards. They removed the original print of the foil cards using acetone and printed their custom design afterwards. While this method may not work on normal Pokémon cards, since the paper material may be damaged, the game’s special holofoil cards have their graphics printed directly on top of the foil material. This makes it possible to wipe the image off like what MidNite_Poet accomplished with his custom cards.

The designs and details of these Genshin Impact-themed custom Pokémon trainer cards are already pretty good but actually going the extra mile to clean up real holofoil Pokémon cards and print the custom designs onto them is really impressive. While the game has had its fair share of controversy that many still hope MiHoYo addresses, Genshin Impact seems to still be popular among its fans.
