Genshin Impact 3.3’s Akitsu Kimodameshi event has arrived and with it, the boss Gibbering Grumbler in the Akitsu Yuugei gameplay mode. The unique mode is inspired by the classic Atari arcade game Breakout and consists of a brick-breaking challenge. Players need to destroy them using Elemental Reactions to obtain points and, subsequently, receive rewards depending on the score.

Gibbering Grumbler is one of three bosses in Genshin Impact’s Akitsu Yuugei, and constitutes the Shatterdark challenges, which are harder versions of the gameplay mode. Defeating them is the key objective but inspired by an Electro Abyss Mage, the boss behaves as such: just like its elemental counterparts, such as Genshin Impact’s Hydro Abyss Mage, the Gibbering Grumbler teleports around the field, requiring players to adjust the Skill-Ball used to destroy it and the bricks.

To obtain all the possible rewards from this specific Shatterdark challenge, players will need to defeat the Gibbering Grumbler boss in Genshin Impact with a score equal to or higher than 4,500 points. While simply destroying it is enough for the challenge to be considered finished, players will have to go the extra mile if they want to grab additional Courage Test Tickets, Mora, Hero’s Wits, and Mystic Enhancement Ores. Defeating the boss alone grants players Primogems, part of Genshin Impact 3.3’s confirmed prizes.

A proper team build is deemed helpful for this challenge. To defeat Gibbering Grumbler in Genshin Impact, players must know that its only elemental bricks are Electro-charged and, therefore, Cryo and Pyro characters should be prioritized. A good team comp for this activity is choosing two Cryo characters, one Pyro hero, and one Electro character. While Cryo pierces through the Electro bricks, Pyro is able to detonate an AoE attack, destroying multiple bricks. Having an Electro character on your team is for infusing your bar with the element and turning a Pyro-infused ball into a Detonatorball, or a Cryo-infused ball into a Surgeball, once in contact with the Electro bar.

As is normal with the base gameplay, Akitsu Yuugei’s gameplay relies heavily on Genshin Impact’s various Elemental Reactions. The absolute game changer, however, is the presence of modifiers. Simply defeating Gibbering Grumbler is not enough, and players must choose appropriate modifiers to boost their point income. The first and most direct one is Shatter-prise!, which shoots a Merit-Ball worth 125 points toward the player for every 30 combos scored by breaking bricks. Another good one is Impact Accelerator, which grants 100 points for every 30 combos, too. There is a downside to this one, though.

While players get extra points with Impact Accelerator, the mod also increases the ball speed by 20%, which may make things more difficult for players. The closest thing to a Genshin Impact Geo Shield Buff in Akitsu Yuugei is a countermeasure modifier called Relative Expansion, which is great for dealing with Impact Accelerator’s disadvantage. This modifier makes the players’ bars wider for 10 seconds after every character change, so alternating between characters while the ball hits Gibbering Grumbler will surely keep the bar enlarged continuously.

Of course, every player has a different experience and preference, so it is possible to adapt and change characters and modifiers to fit specific needs and wants. The suggested build, however, has proven itself functional, and in Screen Rant’s test, not only was Gibbering Grumbler defeated, but the score almost reached 6,000 points. Akitsu Komadameshi is but one of the many events planned for Genshin Impact 3.3, which is expected to last until mid-January, 2023.
