Since its release, Genshin Impact has received criticism regarding the hard-to-obtain and limited energy source Resin. While developer miHoYo has updated and enhanced Resin numerous times, it hasn't been enough to appease the Genshin Impact community. Although it will likely still be fairly limited, there are ways miHoYo can offer more Resin to players in the future.

Genshin Impact monetizes off gacha mechanics, meaning a limited supply of Resin potentially results in players spending real-world money to resupply it. Therefore, it's in miHoYo's best interest to keep the Resin limited. However, for the millions of Genshin Impact players, there needs to be a better-balanced system in place. Resin's most common use is claiming rewards from Domains, Ley Line Outcrops, and Boss fights for upgrading weapons, characters, and Artifacts. Because these activities require a lot more Resin compared to its availability, it's constantly in shortage.

In attempting to fix the imbalance, miHoYo has updated Resin several times over Genshin Impact's release. The cap on Original Resin was moved from 120 to 160 in Genshin Impact's Version 1.1 update, allowing for a slightly higher allowance. With Version 1.3, Genshin Impact's Battle Pass offers one Fragile Resin (two if users pay for Gnostic Hymn) as a reward every ten levels. The limit for Condensed Resin moved from three to five in Version 1.4 of Genshin Impact. And Transient Resin, a once-a-week Resin with an expiration date, is the newest addition with the Version 1.5 update. Yet, despite miHoYo's improvements, there is still a need for more Resin changes.

How Genshin Impact Could Offer Players More Resin

Genshin Impact Keeps Changing Resin

Expanding on the Battle Pass Resin update from Version 1.3, Genshin Impact could increase the amount of Fragile Resin offered. To incentivize players to be engaged in reaching level 50 of the Battle Pass, the amount of Fragile Resin rewarded from level 25 and up should double. As well, Level 50 should reward Fragile Resin and Acquaint Fate together as a celebration of finishing. As a result, players may be more inclined to purchase the Battle Pass, rewarding miHoYo in return. Similarly, Fragile Resin should also be included as event rewards. Developer miHoYo could include Fragile Resin as a reward for completing all event challenges during a limited event. Or, if a player buys all Event Shop items during an event, Fragile Resin could be unlocked as a bonus. Doing this would reward players who put massive effort into playing the game regularly.

Since Resin is already purchasable with Primogems, miHoYo should add Fragile Resin to Genshin Impact's Shop. Because Fates are already purchasable with Masterless Starglitter and Masterless Stardust, it would only be logical for Fragile Resin to be available in Paimon's Bargain's as well. It would offer players a way to control purchasing Fragile Resin if they wanted to, just like Transient Resin is buyable through the Housing System Shop from Version 1.5 of Genshin Impact.

Through making constant changes to Resin in Genshin Impact, it's apparent miHoYo is aware of fans' issues on the matter. Whether miHoYo will continue to work through these issues is unclear. However, with miHoYo's investment in Genshin Impact so far, there is potential for Resin improvements in the future.
