The most exciting part of Genshin Impact is its characters, and any leaks around which ones are coming next are of prime interest to fans, even when developer HoYoverse doesn't provide official confirmation. Genshin Impact's free-to-play RPG model continues to offer regular updates like events and new explorable regions that are added every patch, but characters are by far the most anticipated. Genshin Impact currently has 68 playable characters, split evenly between 34 5-star characters and the 34 4-star options. This large roster will only continue to grow as more regions are released. The majority of Genshin Impact 5-star characters can only be obtained through promotional wishes, which means that they are available in the gacha system only for a limited amount of time. Each character's unique personality and combat skills offers new playstyles for fans. A character is predicted to be playable if they have a vision, a different look from the mundane NPCs, or a voice line about them from other characters. Playable characters are categorized by their Vision element, region, affiliation, and weapon type. Genshin Impact character leaks tend to build hype for upcoming characters, with players getting something to look forward to, whether that's comprehensive information or nothing more than a potential name.

How Genshin Impact Is Leading Up To Fontaine Characters

The next major region that Genshin Impact is headed to is Fontaine, expected to arrive with the game's 4.0 update. Most of the currently rumored Genshin Impact playable characters are consequently from Fontaine, closing the book on updates focused on the latest region of Sumeru. Although playable characters from Fontaine aren't planned to receive banners until the release of 4.0, the 3.8 update is poised to serve as a transition period. Genshin Impact 3.8 leaks point to a temporary region of Penumbra intended to ease players into swimming mechanics that will be relevant for Fontaine.

The Genshin Impact 3.7 update, released on May 24, made an early overture for the upcoming Fontaine narrative with the addition of Charlotte, a character from the region. Charlotte works for the Steambird, a Fontaine newspaper, and appears in 3.7 as an NPC tied into the event's storyline. Genshin Impact Charlotte leaks indicate that the character will be playable in a future update, serving as a potential first Cryo Catalyst for the game. As Charlotte sports a Cryo Vision, her element can be considered confirmed, although the other rumors are only based on leaks and can be considered speculative for the time being.

Leaked Genshin Impact Characters From Fontaine

Most leaks for upcoming characters in Fontaine and beyond have little concrete information, but several designs, names, and details have been passed around. The most recent addition to the lineup of Genshin Impact 4.0 contenders is the leaked Fontaine character Freminet, who is expected to arrive with the banners for the update. Freminet is described as a diver, a skill that would appear to be linked to the swimming mechanic that Fontaine is rumored to bring. As the 4-Star character to run alongside already confirmed 5-Star options, Freminet should be an exciting Cryo claymore user for fans.

One Fontaine figure that players can likely expect to see by the release date of Genshin Impact 4.0 is Neuvillette, allegedly the Chief Justice of the region. Players are unable to use this particular name for the Wanderer, which indicates that the character will eventually be playable in the game. Another who has appeared in leaks is Yuelyn, expected to be a female Geo user. Yuelyn has been associated with leadership of the light faction in Fontaine, although there's not much hard evidence for that rumor at the moment. Her name is a rough translation, with fans speculating that it could actually be rendered as Juline, Jolene, or something similar.

Wriothesley is an expected Fontaine character that, like Neuvillette, has been loosely confirmed to be playable through players' inability to select the name for the Wanderer. No images have leaked of the character, although some fans have illustrated fanart designs based on descriptions. Like Charlotte, Wriothesley sports a Cryo Vision, and may also be arriving before many of the Fontaine characters appear in 4.0. Rumors place his first appearance in Genshin Impact 3.8, an update that may also see the introduction of a Hydro Claymore user from the region named Soutine.

A final Fontaine character in a slightly less speculative realm is Focalors, the Hydro Archon who should be found in the region. The name has already been mentioned in the game, confirming the character's existence, but no announcement has officially been made regarding Focalors as an upcoming figure. The Hydro Archon's visual appearance has only come from leaks, which showcase appropriately blue costuming in a similar color scheme to Neuvillette and point to sword usage and a kit involving gravity. If Focalors follows the path set by other Archons, she's unlikely to become playable until some time after Genshin Impact 4.0

Further Genshin Impact Character Leaks

Several other potential Genshin Impact characters have even less available information than most of the leaked material, and none of these individuals are specifically linked to the region of Fontaine. Captain R has a confirmed name and has been associated with leaked designs, but other information about the character is currently unknown. Sertice has a name and picture that have floated around for a while, but a tweet from Genshin Impact leaker Mero calls the name and other previously associated details inaccurate. An Inazuman Electro character is expected to appear in Genshin Impact 3.8, but no name or design have emerged for this candidate.

Any unconfirmed Genshin Impact characters that eventually become playable will still be at the mercy of RNG, so many players may not have a chance to obtain them. Regardless, with a wide roster of characters that appears to be in the works, fans of the game should have ample opportunity to expand their lineup in one form or another. There is always a thrill to collecting characters and playing around with team builds for all of them, and the leaked characters that appear to be heading to Genshin Impact in the future will no doubt keep this energy going.
