Genshin Impact is packed with content, and with planned updates for the next several years, the free-to-play RPG doesn’t look like it's going away any time soon. Arguably the biggest issue is that if people have been playing since its launch, then they may already run out of content. So while there is more coming in the future, these players don’t have a reason to log in between major updates. In order to keep players invested for the long haul, Genshin Impact is going to need to improve its endgame.

When players first start Genshin Impact, they may find themselves overwhelmed with all that there is to do in the game. Especially if they are starting now, with the recent addition of Inazuma in Version 2.0. But once they have been playing for a while and have their characters leveled, finished the quests and achievements, and explored the map, there simply isn’t much to keep them playing until the next major update. The problem for developer miHoYo, of course, is that if players are away from the game for too long, they might not come back.

The first addition that would help the endgame of Genshin Impact would be leaderboards. There are some repeatable activities already in the game, like the Spiral Abyss and world bosses. Instead of just using these fights for farming resources, leaderboards could be added to give players something else to strive for. There could also be rewards given for certain milestones on these leaderboards, and new challenges could be added, too. Additionally, some kind of PvP combat mechanic could be added in as well.

Genshin Impact’s Endgame Needs A Boost

A big problem with Genshin Impact (and not just in the endgame) is with Original Resin, which maxes out at 160. This energy is necessary for getting rewards in Domains, Ley Lines, and more. Basically, if players are looking to level up their characters, their Talents, or their weapons, then they are going to need Original Resin. It can be refreshed after players run out of Primogems, Condensed Resin, or Fragile Resin, but those resources can be hard to come by. The max amount of Original Resin needs to be at least double what it is now, or there need to be similar activities that don’t use Resin at all in order to keep endgame players active.

Finding all the chests in the game - particularly the Precious and Luxurious chests - is a lot of fun, but once they’ve been found, they are simply gone. There should be rounds of these higher-level chests that respawn after players have found all the ones currently on the map. These new chests could contain better rewards than the previous ones, too. On a similar note, the one-time Domains should also refresh with new challenges and rewards. This would result in practically endless content.

Lastly, though technically only a short-term solution, the Ascension Level and Adventure Rank should be increased. With a game that is supposed to last for years, it is strange that players are already able to max out their characters and world level less than a year into Genshin Impact’s release. In general, the game needs to make some changes and add a few things in order to keep players engaged between the bigger updates, otherwise, they may not stick around to see them at all.
