Genshin Impact is a mobile smash-hit that's also available on PC and PlayStation 4, with Chinese developer miHoYo, previously best known for Honkai Impact 3rd, continuing to update the game frequently to keep players engaged.
While a lot of the allure in Genshin Impact lays in both its open-world action-RPG design and its gacha mechanics, fans have been enjoying the title's narrative as well - what bits and pieces they're able to glean from it, anyways. While Genshin Impact's plotlines aren't convoluted, they tend to favor mystery and setting up further developments rather than tying up loose ends, and there are plenty of questions players are eager to have answered in future updates. Even basic elements of Genshin Impact character lore can be difficult to discern, such as what age some characters are in the timeline of the game's events.
One Genshin Impact player has recently uncovered details about both Diluc and Amber's ages at the time of the game's narrative, however. The player, who goes by Beneficial_Fennel_10 on Reddit, made a post to the Genshin Impact subreddit detailing their findings. In the explanation, the player uses a combination of manga information, an in-game message about the Ludi Harpastum, and where the current game's events sit on the world of Teyvat's timeline to discern each character's age. According to the post, Genshin Impact's Diluc is 22 years old, while Amber is 18.
The information does little to impact the game itself, but it's information that plenty of fans have wanted to know all the same - Diluc can act exceedingly brooding, which makes him seem much older than 22, while Amber's youthful exuberance is much more understandable at just 18. After witnessing just how invested players can get in characters - the recent Genshin Impact Xiao addition is a great example - it makes sense fans simply want as much info on their favorites as possible.
It's also proof that, given enough small clues, passionate communities can figure out information that simply doesn't seem accessible at the time. The Genshin Impact community is a vibrant one thanks to the game's popularity, and it's not surprising to see players already invested enough in what game lore there is to uncover small details like these. It will be interesting to see just how much more information miHoYo ends up giving players directly, or if small details on Genshin Impact characters will remain hidden treasures to be unearthed by its fans.
