The Chasm in Genshin Impact has been the topic of conversation for fans for quite a while now - in part due to the rumors and leaks that have surfaced online regarding the mysterious region. One of the main reasons the Chasm has gotten so much attention is that it has been labeled on the map for a long time, but almost no official information is actually available, despite quite a few NPCs in Liyue talking about this area.

While much of the details regarding Genshin Impact’s upcoming new area, the Chasm, are still either speculation or rumors, there are a few things players do know. Located in Liyue beside the Lingju Pass and the Qingxu Pool, the Chasm is, unsurprisingly, an area that goes very deep underground and is a huge source for special minerals. The region was closed off due to “mysterious incidents.” When the Traveler goes to investigate the perimeter, they find that the area is swarming with monsters. While there is no official artwork for the area yet, the Chasm is supposed to have an entirely different climate than the rest of Liyue. This information is just about everything that is officially revealed; however, alleged leaks and rumors have shown off a bit more.

The biggest question associated with the Chasm in Genshin Impact is its release date. Inazuma was just released in the 2.0 update, and considering this new region has so much content, it is safe to assume that the Chasm is a little ways off. Two prominent leakers from Twitter were able to provide a more specific timeline. According to Sukuna, the Chasm is set to release in either the second or third update in 2022, after the Lantern Rite Festival. Even more specific, Genshin Report, using a calendar created by user Normal God, says that the Chasm will drop either on February 16th or March 30th. These dates are based off of the update pattern that Genshin Impact has gone off of so far. If this pattern were to change, then, of course, these dates probably will, too. Either way, the leaks point to an early to mid 2022 release.

Genshin Impact Leaks: What's Known About The Chasm So Far

Genshin Impact Improved Co-Op

There was a rumor going around stating that the Chasm and the Dendro region are actually all ready to go, but were delayed for Inazuma. This rumor was debunked by Twitter user Genshin Report, who firmly states that both regions are currently still in development. While this didn’t end up being true, it connects to a very interesting leak  - that the Chasm and the upcoming Dendro region are linked.

So far, Genshin Impact has added the smaller Dragonspine region and the Electro nation of Inazuma. The next region on the game’s roadmap is the Dendro region. If this upcoming area is connected to the Chasm, and there is already a possible explanation. The character Baizhu - a Dendro allogene - was introduced in the Liyue storyline as the owner of Bubu Pharmacy. There is speculation that he gets minerals for his medicines from the Chasm, and that this will be related to the Chasm’s storyline. It is also possible that the Dendro region is on the other side of the Chasm opposite Liyue, but this is also just speculation.

Unfortunately, that’s about all that has been leaked or rumored about Genshin Impact’s Chasm region so far. There is still no information about what the region looks like, what sort of gameplay to expect, or even an explanation for these so-called mysterious incidents. So, for now, it looks as if players will just have to wait for 2022. Until then, though, Inazuma has plenty of exciting content for players to enjoy.
