Character leaks are a common part of Genshin Impact fandom, as new ones seem to surface online every few weeks. While much of the free-to-play RPG's next update is a mystery for now, Version 2.2 may feature some familiar faces as playable characters. Some of the latest alleged leaks point toward Yunjin, from the Heyu Tea House in Liyue, getting her own Banner soon.

Since the Inazuma region arrived as part of Genshin Impact's 2.0 update, developer miHoYo has mostly chosen to focus on making Inazuma characters playable. The first batch of characters featured Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu - and Version 2.1 currently has Kujou Sara and Raiden Shogun (Baal) on a Banner, with a Kokomi Event Wish expected in the upcoming weeks. Leakers pointed toward Yunjin becoming playable earlier in the summer, but so far a concrete release date is elusive.

Outside of speculation and these leaks, there's not much else known about Yunjin right now. She's currently an NPC in Liyue, but her standout design from other NPCs certainly makes it look as if she'll become playable in the future. This is nothing really new for Genshin Impact, as many other characters - like Tartaglia/Childe and Rosaria - were featured as NPCs before becoming playable in the game. So while it certainly seems like Yunjin will be featured on a Banner eventually, the biggest question is when players can expect her to arrive.

Why Yunjin May Be Playable In Genshin Impact 2.2

Yunjin Genshin Impact

Earlier in the summer, popular Genshin Impact leaker Sukuna stated on Twitter that Yunjin most likely wouldn't be released in Version 2.1. This has seemingly proven to be the case, since Yunjin wasn't confirmed during miHoYo's 2.1 Special Program livestream. However, the studio could always make a surprise announcement before 2.1 ends, similar to the way Hu Tao was dropped in Version 1.3.

The possibility that Yunjin will be playable in Genshin Impact 2.2 is still considerably high since the only new playable character seemingly confirmed for that update is Thoma. Typically, miHoYo releases more than a single new character over the course of a major content update, so it's likely someone other than Thoma will be playable. While it's entirely possible miHoYo will continue focusing on Inazuma characters in the next few updates, this would mean Yunjin (a Liyue character) may not be playable until much further in the future.

Fans will likely have to wait for official confirmation during the 2.2 Special Program to know for sure. Right now, though, it seems entirely possible (if somewhat unlikely) Yunjin will be playable in the next update for Genshin Impact. If that's the case, miHoYo may even show her off on its social media accounts - similar to what it did with Thoma's reveal - before the 2.2 livestream.
