Playable characters are arguably the most popular part of Genshin Impact, and developer miHoYo is almost always adding in new characters thanks to frequent updates and new in-game Banners. Because of this, there are almost always leaks circulating online for what upcoming characters may be added into the free-to-play RPG next. Now, a recent alleged datamine of Genshin Impact has revealed several new characters, including one named Gorou.

Many leaks right now are focused on the upcoming Version 1.7 update. The 1.7 beta caused rumors of characters like Yoimiya and Ayaka to surface, before miHoYo officially confirmed them (along with Sayu) as playable characters that are expected to arrive soon. Another big rumor is that the Inazuma region will finally be arriving, with a supposed map of Inazuma leaking online recently.

Now, this latest datamine appears to reveal several new characters, all of whom now have fan-made renders that are showing up online. One of the most interesting new characters to arrive in Genshin Impact (assuming the leaks are true) will be Gorou, a Geo user with fox-like ears and a bushy tail. While not much is known about Gorou at this point, the biggest question remains when - and if - he'll become playable in a future update.

Is Gorou Really Going To Be Playable In Genshin Impact 1.7?

Genshin Impact Gorou Character Leak Renders

The renders for Gorou have appeared on several popular Genshin Impact fan accounts on Twitter, such as Project Celestia (shown below). However, there's been no confirmation from miHoYo that Gorou is coming to the game, let alone that he'll be arriving soon in an update like Version 1.7. Since other characters like Yoimiya and Sayu are already confirmed, it's likely those will make it into 1.7 instead.

Since the likelihood that Gorou will be playable in Genshin Impact 1.7 is slim, the next question is if he's even actually real. Admittedly, most Genshin Impact leaks turn out to be accurate. Characters from a datamine of Genshin Impact last year have almost all either made it into the game since or at least been officially confirmed by miHoYo. So, it certainly seems likely that Gorou and the other characters from this latest alleged datamine are going to show up eventually.

Until miHoYo gives official confirmation, there's just no way to know for sure. Given how often miHoYo provides character updates to Genshin Impact, however, fans hopefully won't have to wait too long to learn if (and when) Gorou will become playable - although it seems unlikely he'll show up in the near future.
