New playable characters are always a reason to be excited about Genshin Impact. The free-to-play RPG receives regular updates which include characters players can acquire through the game's Wish system. Because characters are such a major draw to the game, Genshin Impact often suffers from leaks concerning new characters and their release dates. The latest leak concerns Kamisato Ayaka, a 5-star character who's been featured in beta footage before, and when she may finally be arriving in Genshin Impact.

Ayaka was first featured in footage for the game back in 2019, long before Genshin Impact released and became one of the biggest hits of 2020. Ayaka may have close ties to the nation of Inazuma, a region that's been rumored for almost every content update Genshin Impact has ever received. With the new Dragonspine region currently introduced in Version 1.2, it's likely going to be a while before players can run around Inazuma though, since developer miHoYo will likely stagger region releases further apart.

Character leaks are increasingly common with Genshin Impact, and the ones for Version 1.1 and Version 1.2 have proven to be true. An alleged datamine a few weeks ago showed off eight new Genshin Impact characters, one of whom is rumored to be releasing alongside Ayaka's Banner in a future update. Despite plenty of evidence that Ayaka is releasing in the game eventually, these latest leaks should still be taken with with a grain of salt.

When Ayaka Is Coming To Genshin Impact

genshin impact ayaka release date version 1.4

According to Twitter leaker NEP NEP, who is known for leaking other information about Genshin Impact that's proven true, Ayaka will be releasing in Version 1.4 as a 5-star Banner character alongside a previously-leaked Hydro user known as Mimi. Ayaka will be joining the growing number of Cryo users in the game, and she's also expected to use a sword (like she was in the 2019 footage).

For now, Version 1.3 of Genshin Impact is arriving in February, which means Version 1.4 (which, so far, remains unannounced) will presumably be releasing in March. miHoYo updates Genshin Impact at six-week intervals, which means the 1.4 update should arrive on March 17th, 2021, assuming the game continues the same schedule. So far, though, Ayaka and even Version 1.4 itself haven't been officially confirmed, so all of this may prove to just be rumors after all.

The regular arrival of new characters in Genshin Impact is one of the greatest aspects of the game. Whenever Version 1.4 does release, new playable characters will assuredly arrive with it. However, the long-rumored Kamisato Ayaka character may not. Fans of the free-to-play RPG will have to wait on official confirmation from miHoYo before knowing anything for sure.
