Summary

  • Raising Bennett's Constellation level to C6 can be controversial as it can nullify most Elemental Reactions and reduces his effectiveness in some team comps.
  • A C6 Bennett can still be advantageous in a mono-Pyro team comp, but players must consider the possible disadvantages and limitations.
  • Despite the controversy, Bennett remains one of the best characters in Genshin Impact and a better healer than some 5-star characters.

Raising Bennett’s Constellation level to C6 in Genshin Impact can be a bit controversial. The game by HoYoverse offers a wide roster of characters that can be made stronger through Constellation upgrades – these can be obtained when players get the same character from gacha banners or events after they have already unlocked the playable hero. Despite being a free-to-play character, the Mondstadtian is versatile and can be used as a healer, an elemental enabler, and even a sub-DPS for some. His set of skills is very particular, and no other characters match him. Bennett's usefulness even tends to surpass many of his 5-star counterparts.

The founder (and only member) of Benny’s Adventure Team walks hand-in-hand with bad luck and peril but, in spite of this, players still consider him to be Genshin Impact’s best 4-star character, even among dozens of heroes on that same rarity level. There are those who argue, however, that when Bennett has his Constellation increased to C6, most of his potential is thrown away. That is said because of a very specific skill he gains at that level – one that is capable of ruining entire team comps with him in it.

Why You Shouldn’t C6 Bennett in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact's Bennett poses with a circle of fire behind him and Mondstadt in the background.

At C6, Bennett gains a few new attributes that allegedly help him and the team on the battlefield. Though his previous Constellation levels grant him more power and increase his Elemental Skill, Burst, and the maximum upgrade caps of these abilities, C6 Bennett in Genshin Impact is quite different. This Constellation level grants a 15% Pyro Damage Bonus to all Sword, Claymore, or Polearm-wielding characters inside the field generated by the Elemental Burst, Fantastic Voyage. The main downside, however, is that their weapons get infused with Pyro, which can get in the way of the most important part of gameplay, depending on the team comp.

C6 Bennett In Genshin Impact Nullifies Most Elemental Reactions

Bennett celebrates in Mondstadt, in Genshin Impact.

With it, a C6 Bennett is simply not fit for Genshin Impact’s National Team Build. At this level, whenever he uses his Elemental Burst, he makes it tough for melee weapon characters to trigger Elemental Reactions since their weapons are already infused with Pyro. For instance, if a C6 Bennett uses Fantastic Voyage and then changes to Xingqiu to provoke Vaporize, it could not be possible because C6's Pyro infusion effect on the weapon cannot be overridden.

This is also true for other team comps that rely heavily on Elemental Reactions caused by melee characters, since they will not be able to spread and mix the elements.

One of Bennett's main advantages as a playable hero is being able to use his Elemental Burst to instantly apply Pyro to enemies and create a field that heals or buffs teammates while allowing the rest of the party members to move around freely and battle as they normally do. If Bennett's Constellation level is at 6, then the leeway he offers to his team comp can be cut away, as they would not deal their regular type of Elemental DMG. This, in turn, would reduce Bennett's effectiveness as a character in Genshin Impact. That does not mean, however, that a C6 Bennett is completely useless.

Despite not being fit for most team comps, a C6 Bennett may make sense depending on the party it is inserted into. At his maximum Constellation level, Bennett can be extremely advantageous to a Genshin Impact mono-Pyro team comp, with Hu Tao, Xiangling, and an Anemo character for Swirls. Despite the strategy’s high damage output, it is not the best of teams, and seeing how versatile Bennett is, not leveling his constellation to C6 is preferable. Unlocking Constellations in Genshin Impact is usually not tricky, but players who want to use Bennett in most teams must consider the possible disadvantages of raising his to the maximum Constellation level.

The usefulness of Bennett at C6 will ultimately come down to the player's intentions with him and the team comp he is being inserted into. Even as the action RPG continuously gains more playable characters with every update, the 4-star character from Mondstadt still stands as one of the best characters in the game, being constantly part of the meta. He usually fits all Vaporize, Burgeon, Melt, and Swirl team comps. In fact, Bennett is often a better choice for a healer than several other 5-star characters in Genshin Impact.
