During the Traveler's journey in Genshin Impact's Enkanomiya, players will encounter a new elite boss known as Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames. Previously calling himself Enjou, the Abyss Lector aided the Traveler during the World Quest, "From Dusk to Dawn in Byakuyakoku." Later on, after players gather three quest fragments and return to Dainichi Mikoshi, Enjou reveals himself to be a Pyro-aligned member of the Abyss Order faction and challenges the Traveler to a battle.
The main mechanic of the Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames that players should keep in mind is his Brand of the Abyssal Flame. The Brand is a damaging status debuff that is applied by specific attacks. If the player has effectively struck with a "Branded" attack, the effect will linger for a few seconds and then expire. Upon its expiration, Brand will deal True Damage to the entire party, including off-field characters. Players can use their abilities and dashes to prevent Brand from being applied but cannot remove it once they've been affected. Additionally, even though an Elemental Burst is used to avoid losing HP, the rest of the party will still receive damage. However, Brand will not affect those off-field with less than 15% Max HP.
To defeat the Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames elite boss in Genshin Impact, players must understand the Lector's moveset to avoid attacks imbued with Brand of the Abyssal Flame. Similar to the Electro Abyss Lector: Violet Lightning, the Fathomless Flames boss heavily relies on projectiles and explosive attacks to deal damage. He will also perform a scripted AoE attack if the player gets near him. Before getting into combat, it's recommended to have a strong healer or shield-support character within the player's party.
Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames Boss Guide
Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames primarily attacks by hurling flaming orbs at the player. The move could consist of one large sphere or several homing fireballs. Yet, the attack that players will want to be wary of is the bursts of Pyro flames in Genshin Impact that shoot up from the ground. These bursting pillars of fire will apply the Brand status that causes damage to the whole party. Therefore, the player must always be moving to dodge these attacks while dealing damage to the boss.
Once the Lector's HP drops below 25%, he will summon several Abyss Mages to protect him and cast a Darkfire Meteor which spawns Darkfire Furnace that shields the boss. Destroy the furnace to deplete his shield and then finish off the rest of his HP.
