Update 4/29/2022: HoYoverse has officially confirmed that the Genshin Impact 2.7 livestream will be delayed until an unspecified date in the future.

The Genshin Impact 2.7 livestream was expected to take place on April 29, 2022, despite there never being an official announcement from HoYoverse (previously miHoYo). Given the usual cycle of updates, though, the April 29 date seemed all but guaranteed. However, it looks as if the Genshin Impact 2.7 livestream is indeed delayed, as multiple leaks and screenshots from insiders have begun to circulate online, apparently sharing confirmation from HoYoverse.

Rumors of a Genshin Impact 2.7 delay were already prevalent online, and HoYoverse addressed the rumors directly - but didn't deny them - which only made it appear more likely that a delay would happen. The livestream was expected for April 29 at 8 am ET on the game's official Twitch channel. In the days leading up to the expected Special Program livestream, however, there were no official confirmations from HoYoverse. The developer is known to announce these livestreams at the last minute, but the reveals still usually happen a few days in advance. At the time of this writing, there still hasn't been an official update from HoYoverse, though.

A day ahead of the livestream's expected arrival, and numerous users have reported hearing directly from HoYoverse. Enviosity shared a screenshot on Twitter that shows a comment from the official Genshin Impact account that reads, "The Special Program for Version 2.7 has been Temporarily Delayed, we apologize for the issue." Likewise, the Genshin Update account shared a translated screenshot of HoYoverse relaying the same information. It seems as if the Genshin Impact 2.7 livestream has indeed been delayed, although an explanation hasn't been shared yet. The tweets can be viewed below:

Although unconfirmed, it's likely the delay is related to COVID-19, as Shanghai has had lockdowns. The pandemic has affected the gaming industry drastically in the last two years and with a rise of cases in Genshin Impact's home country of China (as well as elsewhere in the world), it's understandable that the Genshin Impact 2.7 livestream - and the update itself - will be postponed slightly. So far, there's been no word on when the livestream and update will occur.

Because of the numerous leaks and rumors regarding Genshin Impact 2.7 and delays, this latest news isn't all that surprising. And since HoYoverse never actually confirmed a date for the livestream, the company may not make an official announcement from social media accounts. Fans may only have these shared comments to go on. However, given how excited many people are for the update, a new date for the Genshin Impact 2.7 livestream will hopefully be shared soon.
