Version 2.0 of Genshin Impact brought the new region of Inazuma along with new mechanisms and challenges for players to navigate. In comparison to Mondstadt and Liyue mechanisms, Inazuma mechanisms required plenty of strategy to conquer. These challenges include the Balethunder climate, Thunder Barriers, Electrogana, and Relay Puzzles. However, Genshin Impact’s Version 2.4 update brings yet another addition to Inazuma: the underground island of Enkanomiya.

The mysterious Enkanomiya lies underneath Watatsumi Island, which was added to the Inazuma map in Version 2.1 along with Seirai Island. According to legends, the people of Watatsumi originated from Enkanomiya. However, due to devastation, the island of Enkanomiya sunk beneath Inazuma and now rests in the abyss. Along with the new area to explore, players will find new mechanics that require a different approach than those of the previously released Inazuma islands.

In order to unlock Enkanomiya, players must be Adventurer Rank 30 or above. Players must also complete the Archon Quest “Chapter II: Act III – Omnipresence Over Mortals” along with the World Quests “The Still Water’s Flow” and “The Moon-Bathed Deep.” Enkanomiya can be entered through the deep pool near Sangonomiya Shrine on Watatsumi Island - which is home to Genshin Impact’s Hydro Catalyst-user Kokomi.

Genshin Impact: Enkanomiya Has A Day-Night Cycle Mechanism

Genshin Impact Enkanomiya Has A Day-Night Cycle Mechanism

Genshin Impact’s new island, Enkanomiya, has unique geography as it is completely isolated from Inazuma and the rest of Teyvat. Since sunlight does not reach the depths of Enkanomiya, day and night are indistinguishable when residing in the underground island. Instead of day and night, Enkanomiya has Whitenight and Evernight. Whitenight is the equivalent of daytime while Evernight is the equivalent of nighttime.

Many of Enkanomiya’s mechanisms are influenced by the shift between Whitenight and Evernight, so players will need to switch between the two in order to activate and solve certain puzzles. In order to modify the day-night cycle, players will need to locate a special type of mechanism connected to the Dainichi Mikoshi - Enkanomiya’s artificial sun. These mechanisms can be activated after completing specific quests.

Outside of Enkanomiya, players can manually change the time with the help of Paimon in Genshin Impact. Inside of Enkanomiya, the Golden Bridle of Enkanomiya is what gives the player the authority to activate the Dainichi Mikoshi mechanisms and switch between day and night. Shield-Lights of Tokoyo - which act as a type of barrier - can be dispelled if the players switch to the opposite time frame. For example, if a Shield-Light of Tokoyo is present during Evernight, players will have to switch to Whitenight to dispel it, and vice versa.

Enkanomiya also has certain distortions visible in the air called Sunfire Phantasms. When players switch between Whitenight and Evernight, they will either cause these illusions to disperse or reveal themselves. Similarly, another mechanism known as Daises of Day and Night appear differently in each state of the cycle. Once they are in the correct state, they will need to be “filled up” before players can operate them.

Genshin Impact: Triangular Mechanisms, Ghostfish, & Places of Essence Worship

Genshin Impact Triangular Mechanisms, Ghostfish, And Places of Essence Worship

Triangular mechanisms in Enkanomiya share an appearance similar to the Electric Lamps found across Watatsumi Island in Genshin Impact. These lamps play an important role in the World Quest that acts as one of Enkanomiya’s prerequisites. As these triangular mechanisms can be triggered from a reasonable distance, players can utilize Bow-wielding characters. They will reset after a set time, so players should use haste if there is more than one triangular mechanism that needs to be activated for a single puzzle.

Similar to riding Anemo currents in Mondstadt, Enkanomiya has Ghostfish that can be used to lift characters into the air. This function allows the player to continuously glide, which hints at the possibility that there may be puzzles lingering in hard-to-reach places. However, players should be careful to stay within the school of Ghostfish; if they stray too far, they will be left behind and the lift effect will disappear.

Though unconfirmed of its official usage, Places of Essence Worship in Enkanomiya seem to be as the names suggest. These mechanisms are shaped similarly to the Perches in Genshin Impact’s Tsurumi Island, and they seem to have two forms that correlate with day and night. Small energy particles circulate the character depending on the form, which may mean that these mechanisms can be used to strengthen the power of the Whitenight and Evernight cycle.

Genshin Impact: Key Sigils, New Bosses, & A New Chest Type In Enkanomiya

Genshin Impact Key Sigils, New Bosses, And A New Chest Type In Enkanomiya

As players explore the new Enkanomiya Island, they may come across items known as Key Sigils. There are five Key Sigils total in Enkanomiya, and each Sigil contains a unique image. These Sigils act as keys to certain seals, so players should pay extra attention to places that contain identical images to the Key Sigils. These should not be confused with Anemo, Geo, or Electro Sigils in Genshin Impact, which are collected throughout the open world and can be exchanged for rewards in each respective region.

Enkanomiya is home to new enemies, such as the Bathysmal Vishap. Since they have adapted to the underground island, they can use the Cryo and Electro Element in addition to Hydro. These Vishaps will have an energy-draining debuff similar to the HP-draining debuff of Rifthounds. The Bathysmal Vishaps contain Cryo-user Shenhe’s Ascension materials. There are also three additional Specter types: Cryo, Pyro, and Electro.

A new Chest type in Genshin Impact seems to be likely in the 2.4 update. Though not explicitly stated by miHoyo, leaks have pointed to signs of a Junk Chest to be released throughout Enkanomiya. These chests contain Mora, rather than Artifacts and other resources as other chests offer. However, as Mora is an important resource for Character Ascensions in Genshin Impact, players may look to this as an opportunity to save Resin that would be expended on Mora Ley Lines.

Following Genshin Impact’s projected road map, it looks as though Enkanomiya is the final addition to the Inazuma region. Some of the next teased regions such as the Chasm/Abyss and the Dendro region, Sumeru, have yet to receive official confirmation. However, with the release of Enkanomiya, Genshin Impact players have plenty of exploring to do before continuing on to the next region.
