Genshin Impact Version 2.4 offers new events and the latest explorable region of Enkanomiya, an isolated area situated under Inazuma that mainly lacks sunlight. The underground map has a variety of new puzzles and provides new world quests that reveal a significant amount of Genshin Impact lore. Moreover, Enkanomiya features new visuals and an environment unique from other islands in Inazuma.

Since Watatsumi island became explorable in Genshin Impact 2.1 update, details about Enkanomiya, otherwise known as Byakuya no Kuni, were further revealed - some of which are through descriptions of Artifacts and Ascension Materials. Other information about the mysterious Inazuma area was disclosed in the "Moon-Bathed Deep" world quest series, which centers around breaking the seals that separate Enkanomiya from Watatsumi island. In the quest series, players are accompanied by a Genshin Impact NPC named Tsuyuko, who will assist in breaking the seals on five Goshou rocks and obtaining the Key of the Moon-Bathed Deep. At the end of the quest, Tsuyuko promises to meet the Traveler again when the time comes to head down to Enkanomiya. In the Genshin Impact 2.4 update, players can now roam around the region's depths, solve puzzles, and learn about the stories that lie under the surface.

Unlike other islands in Genshin Impact's Inazuma region, Enkanomiya is a part of the Abyss rather than Teyvat. The underground Inazuma area is surrounded by Abyss creatures such as various Bathysmal Vishaps. It is a massive floating island accessible only by a deep pool near the Sangonomiya Shrine. Enkanomiya has an ominous and mysterious atmosphere quite comparable to Mondstadt's Dragonspine. Similarly, Enkanomiya is also home to an ancient civilization in Genshin Impact that was destroyed, which explains why it contains a lot of ruins and relics. It also introduces new gameplay mechanics, adversaries, and Ascension Materials. One of the most remarkable aspects of the Genshin Impact Enkanomiya map is that it features a manual transition switch between day and night.

To access Enkanomiya, players in Genshin Impact must first complete the "Moon-Bathed Deep" world quest series and obtain the Key of the Moon-Bathed Deep. Furthermore, players must meet Tsuyuko again in Genshin Impact Version 2.4 "The Still Water's Flow" world quest before descending to Enkanomiya. Initially, players can only explore within Enkanomiya's Serpent's Bowels island. Opening the Entrance to Tokoyo using the Key of the Moon-Bathed Deep will reveal other islands in Enkanomiya, including the Dainichi Mikoshi.

Genshin Impact 2.4: Enkanomiya Compared To Watatsumi Island

Genshin Impact's Enkanomiya and Watatsumi islands are related since most of the residents on Watatsumi were originally from Enkanomiya. Orobashi, an ancient serpent god, led the population to the surface of Watatsumi island as a result of an undisclosed incident that occurred long ago in Inazuma. Enkanomiya and Watatsumi are two of the fascinating locations in Inazuma, exhibiting beautiful scenery and providing a great deal of ancient Genshin Impact stories.

Apart from being situated beneath the surface of Inazuma, Enkanomiya differs from Watatsumi island in several other aspects. For instance, Enkanomiya and Watatsumi island in Genshin Impact both have an ocean-themed environment. However, Enkanomiya is more comparable to the deep-sea habitat. The Genshin Impact Sangonomiya shrine, Watatsumi's landmark, is surrounded by enormous pink clamshells. Meanwhile, the island in Enkanomiya, where the Dainichi Mikoshi is located, has a giant colony of fluorescent corals.

Since sunlight does not reach the depths of Enkanomiya in Genshin Impact, Travelers depend on the artificial sunlight emitted by the Dainichi Mikoshi. This huge device can switch Enkanomiya into either the Evernight or Whitenight states. Enkanomiya's atmosphere is dismal, even in its Whitenight or day state, as it is designed with a limited color palette. Meanwhile, Watatsumi island has vibrant colors and dense greenery.

Genshin Impact 2.4: Enkanomiya Compared to Tsurumi Island

In contrast to Watatsumi island, Enkanomiya and Tsurumi island have an eerie environment. Tsurumi, an Inazuma island in Genshin Impact enveloped in dense fog, has a haunting atmosphere reminiscent of Silent Hill. Meanwhile, the absence of light in Enkanomiya contributes to its chilly and gloomy mood. Both Inazuma islands were originally inhabited by humans but were eventually deserted due to their respective historical circumstances.

Before players may fully explore Enkanomiya and Tsurumi island in Genshin Impact, they must first complete each island's world quest series. To clear the thunderous red fog in Tsurumi and reveal the island's other Teleport Waypoints, players must complete the world quest series "Through the Mist." Otherwise, players may only reach Tsurumi island by teleporting to its Statue of The Seven or through the Teleport Waypoint at the site of the Golden Wolflord. Nonetheless, players will need to activate the scattered Stormstones to prevent getting lost in the thick fog as they travel through Tsurumi island.

Genshin Impact's Enkanomiya area and Tsurumi island share a similar fascinating element. Both Enkanomiya and Tsurumi island project illusions or ghosts of their former inhabitants. Tsurumi island's ghosts appear at night but eventually disappear after players interact with them. In Enkanomiya, players will encounter several ghosts or Phaethon afterimages while traveling through its islands. Interacting with the Phaethon afterimages will provide information regarding the history of Enkanomiya.

With its depths and lack of sunshine, Enkanomiya may seem to be distinct not just from other islands in the Genshin Impact Inazuma region, but also from places in Teyvat. Nonetheless, aspects from other areas of Teyvat, such as Stormterror's lair and Dragonspine, might have influenced the design of Enkanomiya. Meanwhile, Enkanomiya, being part of the Abyss, piques curiosity regarding the features of other regions in the Abyss, such as Khaenri'ah.

Overall, Genshin Impact's Enkanomiya is a great addition that has the potential for more thrilling gameplay and exploration. Not only will players be able to find beautiful sceneries, but they will also discover the origins of both Watatsumi and the ancient events that occurred between Celestia and the Abyss when traveling around the island. Moreover, the introduction of Enkanomiya in Genshin Impact has left some fans wondering what more may be achieved in the newly explorable Inazuma region in the future. Hopefully, succeeding updates in Genshin Impact will unveil other tales related to the origin of Enkanomiya and provide new gameplay elements.
