The 2.1 update for Genshin Impact will introduce three new playable characters, specifically Baal aka the Raiden Shogun, Sangonomiya Kokomi, and Kujou Sara. These characters were previously hinted at in leaks in rumors related to the forthcoming update, which is slated to go live at the start of the month on September 1.

Developer miHoYo hosted a Special Program this morning to unveil the first official details about Genshin Impact Version 2.1. It could not have come at a more perfect time either, considering the sheer number of leaks that were making the rounds online. Premature leaks have become the name of the game for Genshin Impact, though, an expected occurrence that most seem to accept as somewhat of a tradition, especially once different beta phases begin. Unsurprisingly, such prematurely released details have once more proved accurate.

During today's Special Broadcast for Genshin Impact 2.1, miHoYo unveiled the "Floating World Under the Moonlight" trailer for Genshin Impact 2.1 Most notably, the nearly five-minute-long video showcased the three new playable characters that are on track to launch alongside next month's update - Baal, Kokomi, and Sara. A polearm-wielding Electro, Baal will enter the mix as a five-star character. Kokomi is a five-star character as well, a Hydro-type who specializes in catalysts. Rated a four-star character, Sara will bring her skills as an Electro archer to the table. See all of the above and more in the Genshin Impact 2.1 trailer linked below:

The 2.1 update boasts a due date of September 1 across all platforms, meaning active Genshin Impact users don't have too much longer to wait to get their hands on the likes of Baal, Kokomi, and Sara. Since the next content drop is so imminent, leaks concerning Version 2.2 will likely begin surfacing online in one way, shape, or form.

Genshin Impact's one-year anniversary is nearly upon us, as the online action role-playing title first hit PC, PlayStation, and mobile platforms on September 28, 2020. If and how developer miHoYo plans to celebrate presently remains a mystery. In the event that miHoYo does not mark the occasion, fans are bound to come up with their own way of observing the very special milestone.
