The Genshin Impact 2.1 Special Program should be happening later this week. Although there's been no official confirmation from developer miHoYo about the date and time it will air, the company has stuck to a fairly regular schedule for showing off the latest upcoming content through official livestreams. For those eager to learn more about Version 2.1, here's everything that's known right now.

Typically, miHoYo broadcasts its livestreams on Fridays, and about two weeks before the content is actually added into the free-to-play RPG. With Version 2.0 winding down, and Genshin Impact 2.1 expected to release on September 1, expectant fans have been waiting on a new livestream announcement.

Based on previous livestreams, it looks like Friday, August 20, 2021, will be the most likely date for the Genshin Impact 2.1 Special Program. For now, it's unclear if miHoYo will offer multiple broadcasts in different countries and languages like it previously has, or if it will simultaneously air on Twitch the way the Version 2.0 livestream did. Given that the 2.0 update was massive - adding in the Inazuma region, among other things - then it's possible the company will revert back to airing separate broadcasts on YouTube for 2.1. Hopefully, miHoYo will officially announce where to watch soon, but keeping an eye out on its official YouTube and Twitch channels is a good idea.

What's Expected At The Genshin Impact 2.1 Special Program Livestream

Genshin Impact's Kokomi on the battlefield with two Sangonomiya Resistance soldiers with her, one to each side. The sky is dark and cloudy while a few drops of rain fall and her signature bubbles float around.

There have already been numerous leaks, rumors, and confirmations about content for Genshin Impact's 2.1 update. Leaks from the 2.1 beta test include fishing being added as an in-game mechanic and a weekly boss fight for La Signora of the Fatui. Additional rumors point toward more areas in Inazuma opening up, and new playable characters (which were shown off officially by miHoYo) include Raiden Shogun (Baal), Kokomi, and Sara.

For now, it looks as if the first Banner for 2.1 will feature Baal and Sara (both Electro users), with a second Banner appearing about halfway through the update that features Kokomi. While these characters were all revealed online by miHoYo last month, they still haven't been officially announced as playable in Genshin Impact 2.1. However, given the past reveals for characters like Sayu, Yoimiya, and Ayaka in 2.0, it seems all but guaranteed that all three will become playable at some point during the new update.

For now, miHoYo has been strangely quiet the last few days on social media, which again hints that the company is preparing for something big. Although the Genshin Impact 2.1 Special Program livestream doesn't have an official release date yet, fans should expect to watch the broadcast in the morning hours of Friday, August 20, 2021.
