Genshin Impact 2.0 only recently released on July 21, 2021. The Inazuma expansion contains massive amounts of content for fans of the series to explore, and it continues the storyline of where the Traveler goes next after their adventures in Liyue and The Golden Apple Archipelago. However, newcomers in the series will be blocked from the wonders of Inazuma for quite a while, unless miHoYo decides to introduce some kind of pass for skipping content.

If miHoYo decided to release a content skip pass, most likely a payable add-on, this would allow newcomers to bypass the many hours of story arcs and tedious Adventure Ranks and character leveling. This could come in multiple forms depending on how much players would feel comfortable skipping. Some Genshin Impact players may love the farming grind and leveling up their characters while experiencing the deeper story, but with the addition of a brand-new region and a multitude of content, first-time players may feel they’re being left behind.

There are many games out there that contain add-ons that allow players to skip content. Final Fantasy XIV has options to skip levels and story expansions, World of Warcraft has a level skip pass that allows players to access the newer story content immediately, and Destiny 2 has a “Spark of Light” that brings players to the newest minimum light level and lets them play the newest stories. Genshin Impact, especially being a free-to-play game, could take advantage of a system like this.

How A Content Skip Pass Could Work In Genshin Impact 2.0

Genshin Impact could release multiple passes pertaining to the newcomer’s interests. The main pass would likely be one that grants the free starter characters (like the Traveler, Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa) a big level boost to keep up with the newest enemies. This pass would also skip the storylines of Mondstadt and Liyue; it could leave those stories available for players to do in their free time, but this would allow players to begin the Inazuma storyline right away. This pass would likely increase Adventure Rank in Genshin Impact as well, so that players could jump right in to the latest content.

If miHoYo wanted to have other options, it could also release content skip packs that would allow newcomers to skip the individual Mondstadt or Liyue story arcs for a lower price. This would let players get a slight head start by skipping Mondstadt and letting them experience Liyue - or provide players who never began the Liyue arc to skip it and go right to Inazuma. With miHoYo allegedly wanting to produce Genshin Impact content for 12 years, skipping old content could be a must for newcomers.

Genshin Impact newcomers may end up getting lost with the story, so it could be good for miHoYo to create a cinematic recap of what happened in the skipped arcs. Unfortunately, players that would buy a skip pass would miss out on exploring the lands, obtaining good Artifacts, and unlocking Domain locations. Those players may have a harder time leveling up characters as they increase their World Levels after the content skip, so maybe the skip pass would come with a variety of materials to help newcomers out in their future endeavors as well.
