While playable characters get a lot of focus in Genshin Impact, the game's Elements are equally important to its world and gameplay mechanics. Currently, there are six elements in the game, and Version 1.6 rumors point toward Electro getting a buff in the next update. Here's everything to know about the changes that should be arriving soon.

Thanks to the Genshin Impact 1.6 beta, a number of leaks have already surfaced online. These include boat travel, new skins for characters like Jean and Noelle, and Banners for characters like Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Kazuha. However, leaks have also shown the long-awaited Inazuma region, a country founded on the Electro element. This could mean the Electro buffs will be arriving alongside Inazuma in the 1.6 update - although miHoYo hasn't confirmed this quite yet.

In a dev log earlier this month from miHoYo's HoYoLAB, the developer revealed that the Electro element will indeed be getting some changes in future versions. However, the dev log stopped just short of stating it would happen in the Version 1.6 content. Because of this, fans will need to wait for confirmation that the element is changing in Genshin Impact 1.6, which likely won't happen until miHoYo's next livestream. Thankfully, miHoYo's post clarifies what changes Electro will get - even if it doesn't give a specific release date.

The Electro changes that will be coming to Genshin Impact at some point in the future will mostly focus on Elemental Reactions - debuffs that characters can throw on enemies that can be the key to taking down some of the game's toughest bosses. Resonance Effects like High Voltage and Artifact bonuses from sets like Thundering Fury currently don't take effect if the Elemental Reaction is triggered from far away. miHoYo has stated its keeping an eye on this and will make changes in a future update.

Since the Inazuma region is expected in Genshin Impact 1.6, it makes sense that the Electro buffs will happen here, since more weapons, characters, and Artifacts focused on the Electro element are also expected to arrive alongside Inazuma. Additionally, miHoYo confirmed that some of these elemental changes were "already being tested in the 1.6 Beta," which also points toward them arriving in the next update.

Until a Version 1.6 livestream occurs, there's no way to know for sure. Although some buffs may have been tested in the 1.6 beta, it doesn't mean they'll be implemented as soon as the next update arrives. Still, for players who enjoy Electro users like Keqing and Fischl, it's nice to know that changes are coming to Genshin Impact soon.
