The release date of Genshin Impact’s 1.3 update has been announced by developer MiHoYo in a new trailer. While the game’s next update is expected to introduce at least one new character and new content for players to experience, the upcoming patch is also finally introducing the previously-promised buffs to Zhongli and changes to the Geo element in general, which will affect other Geo-based characters.

Despite Genshin Impact being generally considered already a decent game in its current state, some players still think that some of its aspects could be improved even further. One of the game’s elements that players have hoped MiHoYo would improve is the game’s Resin system, which the developer already tried to adjust previously, and the upcoming 1.3 update looks to finally fix Resin.

MiHoYo published the new trailer on the game’s official YouTube channel and along with revealing the patch’s February 3, 2021, release date, it also gives viewers a glimpse of the Lantern Rite festival, the event the new story and content update will revolve around. The trailer also shows off the character trailer for Xiao, the latest 5-star character coming to the game, as well as some of the new content that players will be able to experience. Notably, the trailer for the 1.3 update only featured a single character in Xiao. Previous update trailers showcased multiple characters, such as Albedo and Ganyu in the 1.2 update trailer. The lack of other characters in the new trailer doesn’t necessarily mean that no other new characters will be added later on within the lifespan of the 1.3 update though.

One of the characters that were previously rumored to be released during the 1.3 update alongside Xiao is Hu Tao. And with previous leaks and rumors about new characters ending up being true, which was the case with Albedo and Ganyu as well as Zhongli and Tartaglia, many players were probably expecting Hu Tao to be announced in the new trailer as well.

With the announcement of the February 3 release date of the 1.3 update, MiHoYo has so far been pretty consistent with its 6-week release schedule for new Genshin Impact content. Hopefully, the developer is able to stick with the schedule in the long run as having a good idea of when new content is expected to come out gives players adequate time to prepare, particularly with collecting enough Primogems or Wishes to pull any of the game’s new characters or weapons.
